Perfect hotel for our stay in Hakone! The check in was easy and they not only held our bags until check in (5pm), but when we got back they had taken them to our rooms! They provide face masks, eye masks, facial products, and hair products free of charge. The bus stop is right across the street and the train station is a five minute walk. Our only complaint was lack of a breakfast option because everything around is closed in the morning until 11 am. Wasn’t a huge deal as we just hoarded...

Hakone Suisen provided the best service I expected. The staff were really kind and friendly, the facility was clean and nice, onsen(both inside and outside) were great, and they even provided simple breakfast! Onsen is not big as normally depicted in Japanese media(movie/drama) but the water source is outstanding. We loved staying in Gora! Highly recommend venturing to this part of Japan! The Open Art Museum was easy to get to and a treat! We truly enjoyed the onsen, sauna and cold plunge, adding a spa like experience to our stay. Overall a very relaxing visit.

Staffs spoke fluent English and are super communicative. Overall great experience, scenery of the onsen is amazing. Just want to highlight though, when we used the shuttle bus to arrive at the Gora Station, bus driver didn’t really help to carry the luggages down which is fine, just feels a bit weird to see the contrast before and after leaving the hotel. Overall, hospitality 9.5/10.

I was originally worried because of the lack of reviews on Expedia, but the hotel was truly very beautiful. The rooms are very quiet and clean, and the hotel is right across the street from a 7-11, so you can get meals there if you need to. Transportation was a little tough, as there was not many trains, but there was a bus stop right outside the hotel which was convenient.

Very approachable for a more cultural, traditional experience. Was very easy for an American foreigner like myself to have a truly authentic experience. Staff is incredibly hospitable, helpful, patient, and capable. My first ryokan experience that I have Yusakaso to thank. Quality onsens, extraordinarily clean.

Actual property and room were amazing. It was very large for Japan and everything was new. It felt like a nice modern apartment but had a sauna, onsen, and footbath! This was such a beautiful hotel. We stayed at some very nice ones during our trip to Japan and this was the most amazing of them all with gorgeous views of Mt Fuji and Lake Ashi. It’s hard to beat sitting in your private onsen with water from a natural hot spring while gazing at Mt Fuji. Loved loved loved! Wished I had booked this for the entire trip and probably will book again if I return. The home was thoughtfully curated and exactly as pictured. Very scenic drive and quiet neighborhood. Instructions were straightforward with check-in/route/guidelines and host was very responsive. Note: if you are using public transport and have more than a back pack, I suggest catching a ride from the drop off point to the home.

Amazing dinner in the hotel restaurant. The Wagyu beef was melt in your mouth fantastic. Great wine. The private onsen was perfect and so relaxing at the end of the night. Super comfortable bed and spacious room. Wish I had booked two nights. My only complaint is the coffee in the room is more espresso style and I love a big hearty cup of coffee in the morning. The hotel doesn’t offer coffee in the lobby which is a bummer. We didn’t add breakfast just because we don’t usually do breakfast....

I love the hotel. Tsukino is an interesting and successful synthesis of traditional ryokan atmosphere with modern facilities. While my room comes with TV, fridge, western-style couch, a king sized bed, and a modern bathroom, the rest of the decoration is Japanese in style. The room also comes with a tube in the balcony. The balcony faces a very steep hill with dense foliage around 40 feet away. Thus I was able to take my baths in open air with ensured privacy. The 6th floor of the hotel...
