Wonderful stay at MonkBridge House. Paul and Fiona were incredibly warm, friendly, and knowledgeable hosts who made us feel very welcome. The breakfasts were delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The rooms were bright, spotless, and well-equipped with everything we needed. We especially loved the thoughtful touches like the freshly baked shortbread cookies in the room. Highly recommend for anyone visiting York.
The room was lovely and spacious and clean, had everything you needed. The bed was super comfy with lovely soft bedding. The bathroom was amazing, lovely big space with both a walk in shower and roll top bath. The bath takes a long time to fill but it’s absolutely worth it. The host was so friendly and attentive, went absolutely above and beyond and catered to my dairy allergy.
Would not hesitate to rebook if I return to the area in future
hotel/bed and breakfast has nice friendly atmosphere, excellent breakfast, and is in walking distance of old town York. Only issue is limited parking in back, but they managed somehow by having cars that were leaving earlier closest to exit path. Helpful with things like where to get laundry done, where to go for meals, and unusual sites in old town that we would have never thought of. Will definitely stay there again.
While planning our trip to the UK, my daughter and I wanted to either stay at a Manor house or Castle. Middlethorpe Hall was the perfect choice. It is several miles outside York, but less than 10 minutes by uber or taxi.
The staff was gracious and solicitous. We arrived just in time for tea. The food was fantastic, generous, and the location in the the ball room facing the beautiful green lawn was exactly what we had hoped for.
Our room was not in the main house, but in another building...
Very convenient place to stay if visiting York. Two minute walk to the walled city. Nice, offstreet, parking at a very reasonable price. Staff couldn't be friendlier. Would definitely stay there again if we went back.
The owners were wonderful and I can’t say enough good things about the property. Immaculate, with lots of character and charm but modernized just enough with all the comforts. Get the full English breakfast, you won’t regret it! Very convenient for York city center and the Uni
St. Mary’s Guest House was everything we needed for our 5-night stay in York. My friend and I stayed in a twin room, which was clean and perfectly comfortable, albeit nothing fancy. Wonderful place to spend a coupe of noght! The staff are all so helpful and friendly! The chef prepares an amazing breakfast each morning, too! The rooms are clean, lovely and comfortable! I highly recommend this BnB. My husband and I had a wonderful two night stay!
