So called "cosy" rooms were terrible, a pokey little space with a miniscule dormer window covered in moss. Leaky roof on the entrance to the entrance to the annexe where the rooms were located. They also allow dogs in the rooms where we were located, good job we don't have allergies. Expensive for the room type.

We stayed in room 88, which smelled terrible of cigarettes. We did speak to the front desk about this but didn’t feel like it was going to be a priority to clean the room. The bathroom was also not in great shape and was rather damp and mouldy. Apart from that the beds were comfortable and the location into town was brilliant. All in all, I’m not sure if I’d rush stay here again.

Monks bar car park was easy to find and only a few minutes walk from the hotel, location was good to get into York, however the hotel itself could do with an upgrade for nearly £200 a night I expected more the room was shabby and aircon didn’t work, the front desks staff just responded with none of the rooms aircon works which was terrible customer service. I wouldn’t recommend and I wouldn’t go back

The location is excellent. The hotel is generally nice but if you look closely is a bit grubby in places -skirtings, behind the doors and daily room service. The shower was over a bath and it was very deep which made it difficult to get in and out. There was an aircon unit which was so noisy it couldn't be used. Breakfast was good and overall we had a good stay.
