Exceptional!

What a gem in this magical city. We loved where it was located a walk to all the heart (cathedral and restaurants etc) but during the day when it’s so over run with tourists you’re not in the center of it. The beds were fabulous! Best sleep of the trip. The best part was the staff and breakfast. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. They didn’t even shame me when I had 3 cappuccinos at breakfast (they’re small!) Loved this place!

What a wonderful and unique experience. We are a family of 6 from NY, who struggle in Italian, but the staff here made it very easy to get squared away. The lady who must be the owner was very kind and so were the younger ladies. The rooms have more character than any hotel we’ve ever been to before. The pool is nice, all of the decor is perfect. The food in the restaurant was fantastic, the house red was equally great. The Chef comes by to talk to the guests. There were some other families...

Great location with very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast. Lovely rooftop bar. You cannot drive directly to the hotel. Parking is a short distance away and you must walk to the hotel on cobblestone streets with your luggage, but this is not too difficult and true of many places in central Matera.

This hotel was AMAZING! Perfect for couples, and perfect for lounging by the pool when it is hot. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very accommodating. The bed was VERY firm. Loved this property.

Michele and his staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The only thing I can say that might be a detriment is the air conditioning could have been stronger. I will say that is was in the high 90s. I would definitely use this hotel again

Lovely property. You need a car if going to old Matera. Grocery store close by. Pretty grounds and great pool (although like most Italian pools, not heated.) we found easy parking lots near the historic area so it is ok. The photos are deceiving because the spa whirlpool tub is not included - you have to pay 100 euro per couple to use those amenities. That should be made clear in the listing or they shouldn't show the photos. " Cave" hotel room is fun but only a window at door and in bathroom....

If you are driving, it's a great hotel just steps from the main plaza in Matera. Parking garage underneath. Wifi was unreliable. Breakfast was good. If you don't need reliable wifi, it's a great location in Matera.

Beautiful older very well maintained hotel with beautiful views. Wonderful staff! A little pricey but would stay again!

Bovino is a sweet, little mountain town crowned by the castle at its highest point. Great panoramas of the valley below are visible throughout and especially, from the windows in our room. As you might imagine the rooms have high ceilings and lovely light filtered through gauzy curtains. The staff are amiably curious and ready to assist with whatever you need to make your stay as close to perfect as possible.

Very large property, not far from the ocean. Check-in quick and easy. All staff friendly. Great large room, comfortable bed, quiet. Breakfast was good.

What a wonderful, quiet sanctuary with the modern facilities and amazing chef it also has the qualities of being able to visit Melfi, which is a wonderful town rich in history. This hotel is worth the trip and you will find you get far more than what you pay for. I highly recommend it.

Such beautiful accommodations right in the old part of Potenza. Our hosts were amazing.

Wonderful boutique hotel with fabulous attached restaurant. Barbara, the manager/owner was warm and gracious and gave us great recommendations for traveling around. Highly recommend!!

THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST AUTHENTIC CAVE HOTEL IN MATERA. IF YOU DO NOT STAY HERE YOU WILL HAVE CHEATED YOURSELF OF A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE. I VISITED NUMEROUS CITIES IN ITALY AND MATERA WILL TOUCH YOUR HEART AND TRANSPORT YOU BACK TO BIBLICAL TIMES (NOTE: THE MOVIE ," PASSION OF THE CHRIST " WAS FILMED HERE). OH , AND IF THAT ISN'T ENOUGH , THE FOOD HERE IS AMAZING.
