This is a unique property in the middle of antic city Matera. Beautiful views from the windows to die for, location, etc. Hotel is in excellent condition, furniture, room design, etc. Breakfast is very good. Great options for fine food in the area. You need to be prepare to walk a lot in the city of Matera with steps up and down including to and from hotel. If you can not walk - it is not for you. Parking (free or paid) is on the street within 10-15 min or so walking. Finding can be a problem....

Great place but difficult to find (see note at bottom if you want to avoid the 60 minutes it took me to find the place after arriving in the new town). One of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed at. Restored Palazzo next to the hill top Duomo in the Sassi with fantastic views over the old city and the canyons. Rooms were spacious, very tastefully decorated in keeping with the beauty of the building, and also up to date with thoughtful touches such as heated floors. Only minor ding with the...
