Each of the four suites are beautifully designed and decorated—maintaining the original structure of each space. Staff are courteous and friendly and helpful in places to go and visit as well as restaurant recommendations and reservations. The bed is very comfortable with luxurious linens. Plenty of delicious food and juice choices for breakfast and the best cappuccino! Thank you Paola and her staff for making our stay memorable!

THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST AUTHENTIC CAVE HOTEL IN MATERA. IF YOU DO NOT STAY HERE YOU WILL HAVE CHEATED YOURSELF OF A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE. I VISITED NUMEROUS CITIES IN ITALY AND MATERA WILL TOUCH YOUR HEART AND TRANSPORT YOU BACK TO BIBLICAL TIMES (NOTE: THE MOVIE ," PASSION OF THE CHRIST " WAS FILMED HERE). OH , AND IF THAT ISN'T ENOUGH , THE FOOD HERE IS AMAZING.

Our stay at L’antica Conceria was excellent! Martino was wonderful- he provided us with very helpful information regarding Matera and addressed any needs. He arranged transportation to the bus station on our departure day as well as providing us with an early breakfast. The facility itself is beautiful. I highly recommend Martino and his property!

What a gem in this magical city. We loved where it was located a walk to all the heart (cathedral and restaurants etc) but during the day when it’s so over run with tourists you’re not in the center of it. The beds were fabulous! Best sleep of the trip. The best part was the staff and breakfast. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. They didn’t even shame me when I had 3 cappuccinos at breakfast (they’re small!) Loved this place!

We could not have enjoyed our stay more. From the moment of check in to our check out, the staff at Thymus were incredibly helpful. They provided a list of recommended restaurants and then offered to even make the reservations. We were able to enjoy two fabulous dinners. This is a fabulous hotel in a perfect location!

Wonderful hotel! Perfectly located!

I stayed on short notice at Casale di Maria and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. The room was very charming and unique - in one of the historic sassi (cave hewn into the rocks) but with all the modern amenities you could wish for. I had parked a long way away but Walter, the owner, gave me a ride to my car and guided me to a parking spot near the house where I could park without getting a ticket till the next morning. What a wonderful and unique experience. We are a family of 6 from NY, who struggle in Italian, but the staff here made it very easy to get squared away. The lady who must be the owner was very kind and so were the younger ladies. The rooms have more character than any hotel we’ve ever been to before. The pool is nice, all of the decor is perfect. The food in the restaurant was fantastic, the house red was equally great. The Chef comes by to talk to the guests. There were some other families...

We had an amazing stay at the Cenobio Hotel! It can be a bit tricky to find if it's your first time in Matera, and you can't drive directly to the hotel. Plus, there are some steps to navigate both downhill and uphill. Knowing this from other reviews, we contacted the hotel before our arrival. They arranged a shuttle from the car park, which made things super easy for us. I highly recommend doing this if you're planning to stay here. Matera is a unique town and this hotel captures the special qualities. Each room is different and because it is part of the cave infrastructure of the town, some rooms are dark. I'd ask for a room with widows and terrace if going back.

Great location with very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast. Lovely rooftop bar. You cannot drive directly to the hotel. Parking is a short distance away and you must walk to the hotel on cobblestone streets with your luggage, but this is not too difficult and true of many places in central Matera.

Liked everything, Giacomo, the host was awesome and really did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. Thank you very much
