The Room was excellent in terms of size and facilities and proximity to reception, the restaurant was also great. Just outside the front door of the room was the view over Matera’s Gorge and the caves across the valley. The Staff were excellent and arranged taxi at correct time for our onward connection. The Hotel was next to the Qasar restaurant which has excellent outdoor balcony with great views. Ideal for when the Hotel restaurant was closed. Breakfast was a real treat with a lot of local specialities as well as everything you would expect. Go early to get a great seat in the cave restaurant and enjoy the delights.

A beautiful hotel built into a cave. We had a huge room with a spa bath which was an amazing way to relax and cool down after a day walking through the astonishing environs of Matera. Dinner in the hotel restaurant, sitting outside overlooking the gorge was lovely.
