Nice location. Many things to do and see around.

What a unique property! We loved the character of the palace. The decor was really cool. The staff was excellent, great food and cocktails. I enjoyed the Vespar in the bar. Much better to stay here than in or closer to Porto Fino.

Beautiful hotel with a million dollar view. We splurged for three nights at the Grand Hotel Portovenere and are happy we did. Best location in this beautiful town though one scould argue that it is hard to go wrong anywhere in Portovenere. Hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. They even helped us make advance dinner reservations at the popular Levanto and nearby Cinque Terre restaurants. Breakfast buffet was great. Room was small by U.S. standards, but that's to be expected in Europe.

Perfect location in Santa Margherita Ligure. The roof top pool has a lovely view. Staff extremely helpful. Loved hearing church bells in the morning.

This hotel is beautiful, not just the lobby but the rooms too. The public parking across the road, the lack of a close great beach and one unhelpful receptionist are the only reason I dont score it a 5 across the board. I would stay here again.

We were in Santa Margherita for a wedding, and on arrival discovered that another couple we knew had also chosen this hotel, a reassuring sign in itself. After unloading (see "needed improvements" below), we found everything in excellent shape and recently renovated: the A/C worked, bath was very nice, it was even roomy for a European hotel. Top floor room given to us was really nice. Huge, great view, all amenities you need, comfortable bed. Really liked the rooftop terrace where breakfast is served. Staff was really nice attentive and helpful. Hotel manager seemed to be always duty - whenever I walked in the hotel he was there to meet and greet and to ensure all is good. The entire hotel team was also very nice and helpful.

Very beautiful historical building located extremely close to the central rail station. I came here after having a bad experience with a local Airbnb and ended up loving it despite booking on incredibly short notice. You get so much value for your money, and it’s so close to so many fun things to explore. Highly recommend it!

The entire purpose of our stay in La Spezia was to visit the Cinque Terre. Like other reviews stated, it was perfect. We got off the train from Verona and headed down hill on the sidewalk about 100 yards and there was the hotel. Reception was very good, our room was very nice. The breakfast was very good. Was in old town close to everything. Had everything you need and was very clean. We had to wait outside the door to check in, but only for a few minutes.

My wife and I love the Hotel! We stayed in the exact same room per my request as we did last year. We enjoyed the turkish baths, the steam room, dry sauna, rain showers with cool breeze almost everyday for 2 hours. We left so relaxed we were like noodles. We stayed at Hotel Stella for 4 nights in July while on our 30th Anniversary trip and had a wonderful experience. Our room was on the top floor attached to the upper patio/balcony with an amazing view of the ocean. Stephan, the owner, was extremely helpful. He gave us information about restaurants, how to get about town, and was a fantastic host. The hotel was perfect. The staff was perfect. The location is like 100 steps from the beach. The public portion of the beach is very small, maybe 18 meters wide and 40 meters from water to buildings. I assume if you pay, you can enjoy the privatized position of the beach, which is like 90% of it. My point being, if you want to swim and lounge, do more specific research than I did. We met our family from London in Santa Margherita for 4 nights. With no children on this trip, it was important to have a good location and comfortable quarters. The Santa Margherita Palace was perfect. They accommodate parking. There is a pleasant outdoor sitting area with couches to meet. Very nice hotel. Very difficult to find. GPS does not guide you to the correct place. Hospitality could have been better. We had two rooms. When we asked for a 30-minute extension for checkout, they refused, telling us that we could only have 10 minutes, since the hotel was full. That was patently false. There were hardly any guests to be seen anywhere. I was surprised to find the personnel so unaccommodating. It left a bad impression to an otherwise nice hotel.

Convenient location less than 5 minutes walk to the train station and just 2 minutes to the beach. Quite and safe area, with multiple restaurants, a grocery store, laundromat and 2 gelateria nearby.
