The main pool was well maintained and enjoyable and our room was nice, however there seemed to be a number of maintenance issues throughout the hotel. The rooftop pool was not well maintained and we opted not to swim in it, there was no food or drink service (as advertised), and there were intermittent smells from the plumbing.
The staff were not very friendly and information was not proactively shared (for example about beach towels, parking, etc.).
We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation and the expectation seemed to be that we would leave and return, with no offer to wait in the lobby, etc. We'd had a full day of travel and opted to simply wait, so after 5 minutes they decided they would check us in -- this gave the impression that they were simply being inflexible because rooms were obviously available. When we checked out, they sent someone to verify that we hadn't taken anything from the room before checking us out.
The neighbourhood is under construction, it has an awkward layout, and it feels soulless. It's purpose- built for the huge influx of tourists/ex-pats therefore you can find everything you need, but it's very expensive and has a sterile atmosphere.
