For a high plateau plain town, I was very attracted to it by the friendliness of people, numerous services on the main street. I was surprised by the winery and vineyard, pistachio farms and processing, and mountain views as well as ski resorts.

Alamogordo is a nice little town. There was a farmers market Saturdays. Not a lot of gourmet dining, LesCombes was the best. White Sands, petroglyphs, lava beds all pretty close.

The zoo is a great way to spend an hour or so and only a few dollars. Caliche's Frozen Custard is a nice stop after a day at White Sands. Bring water!

"The staff member at check-in was kind and efficient. The building was older but well kept up and clean. Basic breakfast (cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagels, etc.) was good. Plus, they had sleds and wax that we could borrow for our trip to White Sands National Park."
"From the outside it doesn't look like much, but the rooms are clean, the beds are soft and the AC not only works really good, its QUIET! Close to the road so easy to get in and out. Breakfast was nice just your average continental breakfast. I would definitely stay here again if I ever needed to. And its quiet! "
