Top neighborhoods in Traverse City

Downtown Traverse City
Downtown Traverse City gives you the best of both worlds: waterfront bliss and small-town charm all in one walkable package. Stroll along the shores of Grand Traverse Bay, relax at Clinch Park Beach, or explore the historic buildings lining vibrant Front Street. The historic State Theatre and City Opera House add cultural flair, while the marina buzzes with activity during summer festivals. Foodies will fall for the local restaurant scene where cherry-infused dishes and craft brews rule the menus. Boutique hotels and historic inns offer cozy spots to crash after days spent shopping or swimming. Getting around is a breeze on foot, and the free trolley connects you to all the downtown hotspots.
Grand Traverse Commons
The Grand Traverse Commons turns Traverse City's historic asylum into an architectural playground worth exploring. Victorian-Italianate buildings with soaring ceilings now house art galleries, boutiques, and wine tasting rooms. Stroll through tree-lined pathways connecting the campus as you discover local artisans at work in their studios. The year-round indoor farmers market fills historic spaces with the aroma of fresh Michigan produce. Farm-to-table restaurants and casual cafés serve cherry-infused northern Michigan specialties. Most shops close early evening, so plan daytime visits to browse the handcrafted goods. While public transit is limited, free parking makes exploring this creative community a breeze.

Traverse Heights
The Traverse Heights neighborhood has lots to see including Traverse Area District Library and Boardman Lake.

Baymont by Wyndham Traverse City
"Very nice room, housekeeping was every 3 days but got new towels daily. Good supplies of snacks & sundries. Staff helpful giving us info about the International fireworks competition- was sold old for months but found viewing areas. Breakfast was decent- had Belgian waffles & smaller ones too, fruit available & yogurt biscuits & gravy, eggs, toast, cereal. Plenty of coffee & tea. Plenty of room for our bike & trailer in the back. We were part of a Can Am rally group & about 20 of us stayed there"
ParkShore Resort
"Great place to stay. Great Bay view from your balcony. Staff great, good location. Do need to drive a bit to enjoy Traverse City Shopping and restaurants."
The Vic By Kasa
"Excellent. Thank you."
Sugar Beach Resort Hotel
"While I enjoyed our stay and the view and the balcony were wonderful. The biggest issue i had was the breakfast. First no where was it mentioned that is was just a breakfast box of pre packaged breakfast items. I accepted that but then on the first morning the boxes were not what we ordered, we went ahead and ate them but when leaving for the day stopped and talked to front desk about it. They apologized but the next morning we only go one breakfast box instead of the 2 we ordered. Again went to front desk, another apology. Third morning was correct but by that time we had been disappointed. We actually ate breakfast out all 3 days. Other than that the stay was wonderful. Just plan to your breakfast out."
The Baywatch Resort
"Breakfast was lacking."

"Great place to stay and complimentary breakfast is fantastic. My only complaint was I booked a 2 queen bed room and they put me in a king bed room without any mention of why. Also no shampoo in the room."
