"The Townhouse is an excellent hotel . Very clean , staff were excellent, the food and facilities and location were perfect. We loved it"

"To start with ... the positives .... the car park is large; the staff were smiling, helpful and courteous; the breakfast was very tasty and portions generous; the room was bright, large enough and clean. The location is very central and very convenient for the book festival, shops, the abbey etc. As an old market-town hotel we guessed it was probably a little in need of upgrading/maintenance and it is ... with some scuff marks etc but staff keep it clean. We were at the very back of the hotel and it is a bit of a rabbit warren. Folk with mobility issues might struggle with cases (no lifts) but we were forewarned."

"Decent pub inn offering clean accommodation and good food (odd breakfast menu ordering scheme though!). Slight problem at check in when it seemed that they didn't have our booking.... but it was their awkward system and all ok in the end. The waiting staff were a credit to the business... run off their feet but still friendly and good humoured. Definitely recommend."

"Staff were lovely, cottage was lovely. Restaurants and bars all top notch. What was not made clear when booking the rooms was 2 significant issues. Firstly although says bed and breakfast, the breakfast was £25 voucher to cook your own. That was not made clear on hotels.com App. Second issue that was not at all clear, is that despite strong advertising re spa, if you are in a cottage it's £65 per person per day to use the spa facilities. This is a lot. And the biggest gripe is that not even buying the v expensive spa treatments (£300) gave us any access to the spa facilities"
