We had an absolutely magical stay at Mayan Monkey. They staff were amazing, the food and drinks were fantastic and the room was spacious and comfortable. Definitely the more chilled place on the island. Perfect for chilling on a sun bed and enjoying some cocktails and tacos.

Great place to stay away from town but close enough for a nice walk. The hotel staff was absolutely excellent. Only real complaint was the techno music gets really old fast.

Nice property with very friendly staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Lots of great activities on the property - yoga, sushi-making, mixology class, water color painting etc. (the teachers do it voluntarily so make sure to tip).
Only note - if you get a beachfront room be prepared for loud bar music with nightclub beat until late into the night/morning.

We stayed in the private room with the bath tub and we were blown away! The room was great, and the view was beautiful as we looked out into the jungle.
The only downside is that our shower never really got hot, I’d definitely stay here again.

This was a beautiful hotel. However, there are limited in-room amenities such as hand towels. If you're not looking for a fancy but comfortable stay, I recommend Mayan Monkey. Keep in mind that to get to the downtown, you'll need a taxi ride, about 150 pesos in each direction.

Danny the manager was wonderful! We really felt like we were with family! The staff bent over backwards to accommodate the 8 of us! The property is beautiful! The food is amazing!

Jungle rooms are beautiful and quiet, the beach and restaurant are gorgeous. The constant loud techno music was a bit much. Bike rental is convenient but check the bike carefully before choosing, one had a loose handlebar which made for a bit of a hair raising ride, along with no handbrakes on the hilly roads.

Room was good but had no balcony or area to sit outside. Staff was excellent and the property was very clean and lush. Our room were on the other side of the main road which wasn’t the best. The beach and pool area is not great. Water is tuned up and murky the dock is not great and the pool is more like a wood Len box that could use an upgrade
The restaurant was a really nice setting and the food was excellent.

The staff was the absolute best!!! Renting a golf cart was easy, walking about easy, relaxing on the beach so nice. The property is to the south of the island, so away from all the party scene, but still a great party vibe. We stayed a week and would absolutely stay again. A short walk from several great restaurants and bars. But seriously, try a golf cart for 24 hrs, go see the sun rise at the far south of the island, you won’t regret it. And make sure you say hola to Matteo and team, they are the BEST!!

We absolutely loved this room with a tub in the jungle. Right next door was a rambunctious restaurant that was super fun with hibachi and the waiters were so friendly, we made lots of friends that night and went back again. The bar across the street was right on the beach and was also incredible. Just awesome place to stay

Good place if you want a close private beach and don’t mind loud house/techno heard in your room late into the night and no frills. We had a room closest to the beach, which was super convenient and beautiful, but also overpriced. A fancy backpacker hotel. Music stopped 12-1am-ish. Food on site was decent and town is a 10 minute taxi or bus ride away

Well, hostel is so impressive, for that price I felt like I booked some really expensive resort. Clean rooms, friendly staff, YOGA in the morning was just stunning, Thank you. I would recommend you upgrade or work on the pear because it was not supper comfortable to swim but if I will ever have a chance, I will definitely come one more time. Highly recommend!!!!

Found a big human hair ball on the bed upon entering the room. Bugs that bit inside room (very uncomfortable) and leaking toilet.

This property is absolutely gorgeous and makes you truly feel like you're away from the worlds worries. Its away from the central area so its much quieter and easier to sleep. The breakfast offered was delicious, fresh and very generously portioned. The staff was very kind and helpful, and the offer of luggage storage was amazing for exploring the island after check out the next morning. Would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for a couple nights during a longer stay on Isla Mujeres. We upgraded to a jungle room but they don’t tell you it’s across the street from the resort. The front desk agent was a bit unfriendly, nice but seemed bothered we arrived to drop bags early which seemed very common given it was more of a fancy backpackers resort. The room itself has a lovely jungle feel but is bare minimum. No where to put anything and our toilet wouldn’t fill with water after the first flush. Definitely visit the sushi place next door for hibachi!

Our room was basic but clean - drinking water was available for free. Kitchen is shared kitchen.
Location is not really close to anything walkable in terms of sightseeing so if you want to get around you need to rent a Golf cart at about $100-150/day.
The wait staff were very friendly.
All food in the area is priced at average/above average American/canadian restaurant prices so expect a rather large food budget unless you get to a grocery store (by golf cart or taxi)
This property plays loud dance music until 12-1 am which can be heard clearly in the rooms with ocean views.
The rooms come with earplugs but the music is louder than the earplugs can handle. You must not be bothered by that to fully enjoy this property.
The beach is small but private and gorgeous.

I stayed for a few nights here and loved it. There’s a lot of areas to lounge(beach, dock, shaded areas, pumping/bean toss game areas; and my room had a balcony with a hammock which I loved. The whole place was cleaned everyday, and in good condition. My only issues was the WiFi/tv wasn’t working and the water on site smelled kind of funky(I’m not sure if this is an island issue). Aside from that I had no complaints. We rented a golf cart from them, later had a flat and they were quick to switch it out with another one. Staff were very nice and welcoming. I will be definitely coming back.
Oh FYI they do play loud music at nights, personally I loved this but if you’re a light sleeper I would just take this into consideration (they do provide ear plugs).
