The room was satisfactory. Most staff were helpful and amazing. The breakfast was great. Would not recommend upgrading to a food package as there are amazing restaurants here. The beach is a short walk and is awesome. I found this hotel expensive for what was offered but the location was great.

Holbox is paradise, and the front desk staff and beach service were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the pools are poorly maintained, with broken tiles that caused my 11-year-old daughter to cut her foot so badly she couldn’t swim for the rest of our trip. We also had disappointing service at the rooftop restaurant and towel station, where an employee tried to charge us for blood-stained towels caused by the pool injury. Proper pool maintenance could have prevented this incident and made our stay much more enjoyable.

Perfect hotel to relax! I did slightly prefer the more “jungle” vibe from the sister hotel but it’s all matter of enjoying the moment! Great breakfast and very kind staff!! When you’re on the beach you do need to wait a while for your drinks. If they put one more waiter depending on the busyness this would really help. We had the breakfast incl option, the first night we wanted to have the buffet dinner at the hotel but the prices are crazy, especially for small kids who’re not going eat much. We therefore went in town to eat. If the dinner prices was a bit more attractive they’d lure more folks for sure. The room was great, we were in room 81, sadly on the side road which can get a bit noizy in the early evening when al the quads are passing by, luckly this doesn’t last the whole night.

Very lovely staff, great housekeeping, delicious food. The only thing I'd improve is bike rental, bikes are very rusty. Also moldy chairs in dinning room - I understand there is moisture problem at the island so I didn't mind, but could choose different materials that are not as prone to get moldy. This was our 1st stay at Palapas, but we stayed at Paraiso (sister hotel right next to it) two times and would come back again to either of them. Overall absolutely great value for the price!

The property is nice and well maintained. There is a pool and a beach area with chairs owned by the property for guests use. Both of these are nice. There is towel service for the pool and beach. This is not a normal resort that you might have stayed at in other parts of Mexico. The swim up bar is not really swim up; there are staff members circling to take beverage or food orders around the pool and if you go to the swim up bar, those same staff members will address your needs, despite a bartender being behind the bar. There is not a way to charge drinks to your room; you will need to pay for them on site, if not doing all inclusive. The breakfast had an array of options and was pretty good. The staff at the front desk and at the restaurant/pool speak limited English. This seemed to be mostly fine as the majority of patrons spoke Spanish, but this is something to consider if you do not. There were some miscommunications that I am sure were not helped by translation issues. Nevertheless, besides a language barrier, the staff were accommodating and tried to help resolve any issues, order taxis etc. The property is walking distance to town and other places down the beach that are great also.
