This hotel has the most comfortable, fluffy pillows I've ever slept on. There's no A/C, which is OK as it usually cools down at night, but it was warm in the room during the day with temps reaching up into the mid-80s while we were there.

Hotel Spalentor offers a wonderful, well run place to stay in a perfect location for access to the old town or to get to the train station. Old school kind of place wheree they give you a physical key for your room but everything is clean as a whistle.
This place is in a great location. Few steps and you’re in the heart of Basel. Saturdays in the park across the street is a market where you can find amazing antiques and other great finds. We stayed at the Steinenschanze Stadthotel the day before we took a Rhine river cruise. The receptionist gave us good instructions on how to use the free transit pass to get back to the hotel after we returned our rental car at the airport, which saved us a taxi fare. We had a suite on the top floor, large wrap around balcony, fabulous bathroom with bathtub, separate shower, 2 vessel sinks, toilet room, and a TV to watch while bathing. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were super friendly and spent as much time as needed answering our questions and providing us with a converter.
What a gem of a hotel, right in the heart of Basel! I loved everything about the Nomad, from the free sparkling water to the extremely helpful staff and the fabulous restaurant. The room was modern, comfortable and had excellent Wi-Fi. The bathroom had a walk-in shower with a rain forest shower head as well as a handheld shower head - heavenly! I've stayed at the Nomad twice and would definitely stay again.
