Top neighborhoods in Naples

Historical Center
Naples' Historical Center captivates with its UNESCO-listed Greek-Roman street grid and mind-blowing cultural gems. Wander ancient cobblestone alleys to discover the Duomo, where San Gennaro's blood mysteriously liquefies twice yearly. Duck into the Cappella Sansevero to see the jaw-dropping Veiled Christ sculpture or explore underground ruins dating back 2,500 years. Getting around is easiest on foot since narrow medieval streets limit vehicles. Toledo and Municipio metro stations connect you to wider Naples, while Montesanto train station provides regional access. The neighborhood overflows with authentic pizzerias (it's the birthplace of pizza!), artisan workshops, and boutique hotels housed in historic palazzos.

Chiaia
Seafront location with luxury shopping on its main street, Chiaia boasts the beautiful Villa Comunale park and is nestled between Piazza Vittoria and Mergellina.

Vomero
Discover Piazza Vanvitelli, the ancient Petraio, and Rione Antignano in this vibrant area. Explore Floridiana Park, Castel Sant'Elmo, and enjoy stunning views of Naples, Mount Vesuvius, and the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Mergellina
Stroll along Mergellina's stunning seafront promenade and soak up the Bay of Naples views with Mount Vesuvius on the horizon. This authentic Neapolitan neighborhood balances tourist appeal with local charm. Take a boat excursion from the marina filled with luxury yachts or explore landmarks like Villa Doria d'Angri and Virgil's Tomb. Upscale seafood restaurants and traditional pizzerias line the waterfront, while residential streets reveal local life. Two metro stations make getting around a breeze, with easy connections to central Naples and island ferries to Capri and Ischia. The wide, tree-lined promenade offers perfect sunset views after a day of exploration.

San Ferdinando
San Ferdinando serves up Naples' greatest hits with a side of seaside swagger. The Royal Palace and medieval Castel Nuovo tower over streets where history feels alive and kicking. Stroll the scenic Lungomare promenade for knockout views of Mount Vesuvius across the bay. Theater lovers can peek inside the red velvet splendor of Teatro San Carlo, while shoppers get lost in the golden light of Galleria Umberto I. Upscale restaurants near the palace dish out refined Neapolitan cuisine, while hidden side-street pizzerias offer authentic flavors. Catch the Metro at Chiaia-Monte di Dio or Municipio stations to zip around town. The area's boutique hotels occupy converted noble residences, putting you steps from the harbor where island-bound ferries await.

Naples and related destinations
Beneath the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, chaotic streets reveal a city where pizza was born and passion runs hotter than the local espresso. The National Archaeological Museum houses treasures from nearby Pompeii, while underground tours reveal ancient Roman markets beneath modern buildings. Via Toledo dazzles with its metro station art and shopping opportunities. Take a ferry from Molo Beverello to explore the Blue Grotto on Capri. The Teatro di San Carlo opera house stands as Europe's oldest continuously active venue. Don't miss the eerie Catacombe di San Gennaro or the masterpieces at Capodimonte Museum. For the best views, climb to Castel Sant'Elmo before rewarding yourself with authentic Neapolitan pizza – folded, never sliced.

De Bonart Naples, Curio Collection by Hilton
"From the arrival to the dinner / breakfast the team is extremely professional. Shout out to Christian whom on our arrival late with no luggage was super helpful ! Great location and thanks for the upgrade"
Royal Continental Hotel Naples
"If you are going for a room with a view, you cannot miss this place. The view from our balcony was just spectacular! The hotel overall was a bit dated but well maintained. I felt like I was going back in time staying there. Don't miss the rooftop pool. Even in the hot summer sun, it was so refreshing and top-notch service. Our room safe didn't work and they never came and fixed it, even when we asked twice. Also, we had to call to get our sofa bed turned down. But overall, people were very nice, the breakfast staff and food were amazing. Can't miss the view."

"My home in Naples. Excellent location and property"
Smart Hotel Napoli
"Perfect spot for anybody looking to grab an early flight after spending some time in Amalfi. Located at the ferry landing, a bus runs every 15 minutes to the airport for only 5 EURO. Throw in a good breakfast buffet and some water views and it’s an absolute steal for its daily rate. Highly recommended!"
CX Naples Centrale
"We had a very nice experience and the hotel's location is very convenient near the train station."
UNA Hotels Napoli

Palazzo Salgar
"Break was delicious on"
Grand Hotel Vesuvio
"Hotel Vesuvio doesn’t try to impress you, it simply is impressive, the way history is. From the lobby to the old brass fixtures, everything here feels built with intention, by people who understood that real luxury doesn’t need to shout. The service: attentive without being intrusive, warm without being performative. If you want to feel transported to what hotels used to be, full of character, timeless elegance, history, and soul, this is it. It’s a shame that so many guests breeze past this kind of old-world charm, chasing the next trendy, Instagram-ready moment instead."
