Top neighborhoods in Lausanne

Le Flon
Le Flon delivers urban excitement as Lausanne's premier nightlife district, where converted warehouses house sleek bars, clubs, and a multiplex cinema. Design boutiques occupy glass-fronted spaces while restaurant terraces spill onto pedestrian plazas dotted with modern sculptures. The neighborhood's striking red-brick buildings with sleek glass additions create a sophisticated urban playground for evening entertainment. Metro M2 connects directly to Lausanne center in just 3 minutes, making exploration effortless. The pedestrian-only core eliminates parking worries, though underground garages are available nearby. Upscale restaurants serve everything from Asian fusion to Swiss contemporary cuisine, while boutique hotels offer minimalist designs and proximity to the action.

Ouchy
Ouchy is Lausanne's scenic lakeside playground where the Alps meet Lake Geneva's sparkling waters. The Olympic Museum stands proudly along tree-lined promenades that wind past elegant Belle Époque hotels. Visitors can hop on CGN ferries to French shores or simply soak up mountain views from pristine beaches where azure waters invite summer swimming. Upscale restaurants serve fresh perch with Alpine views while casual cafés offer Swiss specialties on lakefront terraces. The M2 metro whisks you to Lausanne's center in just 10 minutes. Luxury hotels dominate the accommodation scene, making Ouchy perfect for travelers seeking refined relaxation with panoramic mountain backdrops.

Lausanne Center
Lausanne Center's medieval charm unfolds across cobblestone streets and historic treasures. The Gothic Lausanne Cathedral stands majestically above the city, while the pedestrian-friendly Place de la Palud buzzes with local energy. Art lovers can dive into unique collections at the Palais de Rumine or discover outsider masterpieces at Collection de l'Art Brut. Swiss-French bistros and cozy cafés dot the pedestrian zones, offering everything from traditional fondue to international cuisine. Getting around is a breeze with the M2 metro line, though the neighborhood's steep terrain might challenge some walkers. Boutique hotels in converted medieval buildings provide the perfect base for exploring this lakeside gem.

Montriond-Cour
Montriond-Cour brings together the peaceful side of Lausanne with its cultural treats. Explore the lush Parc de Milan with tree-lined paths or wander through the University's Botanical Gardens with their exotic plant collections. The Museum of Zoology offers a fascinating peek at natural history in a classical setting that's perfect for curious minds. Getting around is simple with regular buses connecting to the city center in just 15 minutes. Local bistros serve traditional Swiss dishes without the tourist markup, while small shops cater to everyday needs. This authentic neighborhood offers a genuine Swiss experience away from the usual tourist crowds.

Mövenpick Hotel Lausanne
"Great view and. Location ! The only thing I didn’t like is the fact that they don’t allow 4 people regardless if they’re kids or not in the room while the rooms are big and vast. Other than that, location and view are amazing."
Aquatis Hotel
"Really enjoyed this hotel - if you are coming by metro make sure you know how to get in, not entirely clear the first time. There is not much nearby but the metro is quick and frequent and the hotel is lovely."
Hotel Mirabeau, BW Signature Collection
"Nice, affordable hotel. The location is wonderful and they provided us the free transportation card for Lausanne which made getting around very easy. There's not anything in the area for breakfast and we ate at the hotel which wasn't expensive and was pretty extensive. We brought a car and parked in the ramp overnight -- yes, there's a fee, but its not out of line with hotels anywhere in the world. The room was spacious for three people with too much luggage. The A/C worked well. The beds were comfortable (my teenager loved the Murphy bed with the "normal mattress"!). The family was all happy."
Beau-Rivage Palace
"We have an amazing and relaxing stay at Beau Rivage. The room was very comfortable with lovely amenities. We enjoyed an afternoon by the pool and appreciated the attentive pool staff. Beautiful views of Lake Geneva. Several food options on site. Walkable into town and the path along the lake. All the staff were very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. Thank you for the lovely lemon cake to celebrate my daughter's birthday. It was a wonderful surprise. Highly recommend."
