Thon Hotel Orion
8/10 Good
"The room was very clean and well-equipped and had a pretty view of the harbor. It was also very well located. In fact, our walking tour of Bergen began less than a thirty second walk from our hotel.
We booked a superior room to accommodate three of us as our daughter was traveling with us. Unfortunately, when her pull out bed was prepared for sleeping, we were left with very little room to move about. Also, the bathtub shower (although very clean) is not our favorite as it is hard to confine the water to just the bathtub area without it spilling over. The bathroom itself was much smaller than in other Thon hotels we’ve stayed in.
The breakfast buffet was just as good as others we’ve had however."
"Nice spacious room and bathroom, much larger than other rooms of the same price I’ve stayed in, including two chairs and a small table, business desk and chair, and a small footstool at the end of the bed is nice when putting on shoes, etc. The breakfast was excellent. It’s also in a part of town that’s close to Bryggen, restaurants, shopping, and ferries. The ONLY downside is it’s a bit of a maze to find your room… elevator up, walk the hall, turn left up a couple more stairs, walk the hall…
Still, I would definitely stay here again.
It was the nicest hotel of the entire tour.

"Friendly staff, rooms were okay, breakfast was good. No dinner due to city wide strikes, which became quite expensive to find alternatives with Norwegian prices."
"The room was clean but small, shower has half glass partition which allows water to go everywhere. Bed was comfortable but could have used better pillows."
"Would have been 5* were it not for check in issue when I self checked in with QR code sent by hotel / coded room cards only to find it let me into an occupied room - not great for safety or security! Staff were pleasant but I would have expected such an issue to be taken with more concern.
The hotel was fantasticly situated from airport a mere 200 meters from main exit but still managing to feel relaxed and not in a busy location. Decor very modern and stylish and very well maintained and clean. While simple the room was well designed (benefit of relatively new build) and comfortable with the key things of good shower / plenty hot water / drinkable cold water / good quality bed. Breakfast had a very reasonable selection given that Hotel staff strike was current and information had said breakfast would be limited.
Would definitely use again BUT someone needs to sort IT glitch so no one's suffers a stranger walking in on them or worse"
