"A fantastic stay overall at Gora Kadan. Our room was impeccable with a lovely balcony that featured a small Japanese garden. The room assistant was attentive and helpful. The kaiseki meals were presented in lovely dishes with sophisticated design, were tasty and quite elaborate, each meal was truly a feast for the eyes and taste buds. "A lovely stay at a family run ryokan very near Gora station. It is not luxurious accommodation by any means but the staff are very sweet and kind. The place is a little rustic but the food is amazing!! Actually they could cut down on a few dishes and it would still be too much to eat! The private onsen was also much appreciated as there is no shower in the room. All in all, I had a relaxing time in Gorakan. "

"Loved the amazing hospitality we received from all the staff members. The place is clean and quiet, matching its ambiance. The food (both breakfast and dinner), tea ceremony and drinks were incredible and an absolute culinary experience. The onsen in the room was perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better stay. An absolute hidden gem but definitely not going to be hidden for much longer. Looking forward to seeing this hotel flourish. "

"Wish we could have stayed for another night. Staff was incredible, property is fantastic with excellent central location near Gora station. Walked from Suiun to The Hakone Open-Air Museum easily with the best Lawsons along the way. We did not make it to Hakone Gora Park but it was right next door, down the street was a Hakone Tozan Railway stop. "I had an amazing stay at Marroad. On the outside, it looks a bit outdated, but the interiors are well maintained. I absolutely loved my room — it had been renovated, everything looked new, and it was both spacious and cozy. The staff were very kind and attentive. Another nice thing to mention is that they offer a free shuttle service from Gora Station to the hotel; you just have to call upon arrival."

"This is a luxurious resort. We were the only non-Japanese guests there I think, and we felt welcomed and absolutely blown away by the experience. Our room was like a suite with four beds and a separate bedroom, the amenities were fantastic. The staff were professional, friendly, and welcoming. The breakfast was enough to feed an army and we tried both the Japanese and Western versions. The Onsen was beautiful and relaxing. Note, this hotel is situated in a hilly area, about 20 minutes drive from the Yumoto train station. Loads of nearby sites including incredible museums, art galleries and restaurants. But if you want to come to sit in your room's private Onsen, you can do that too. You leave your shoes at the hotel front check-in, so walk barefoot or in socks throughout (note for foreigners) and it's lovely. Absolutely safe, clean, quiet, relaxing, luxurious. Highly recommend. And get the breakfast at least once (you might still be full for the next morning so once might be enough)."

"The hôtel is wonderful! Every detail has been carefully considered and crafted using high-quality materials. The lounge, with snacks and drinks, adds to the hotel experience. Unfortunately, the dining room left us with mixed feelings regarding the dining experience. We made requests that were not honored. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the staff's attitude changed, and our dining room experience became unpleasant. It's a real shame because, although the hotel is extraordinary, I would hesitate to book again."

"This was the most charming hotel with so much history and beautiful details. We stayed in the Angel room, which was gorgeous and spacious, and had an amazing view of the mountains. The gardens behind the property were so pretty with little walking paths and waterfalls. We loved the 1920's feel of the property. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Would highly recommend!"
