Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was very poor. Our room was large and overlooked the clock tower, but that was where the positives ended. The room itself was tatty and grubby- the towels were stained and the curtains had holes. The bathroom was visibly unclean (stained bath with hairs and toothpaste splashes on the bathroom door).
Whilst the view over the clock tower was great, the noise was unmanageable. Loud drumming/shouting/sirens were still incredibly loud at 1am. Even with ear plugs (we bought our own), our sleep was terrible. Whilst this was not the fault of the hotel, it's very much worth bearing in mind.
We were very disappointed to have not been informed about the significant building works that are being carried out next door. The hammering/angle grinding went on most of the day, and it made using the pool area impossible. Having said that, the pool area was in very poor condition and nothing like the photos (broken beds/murky pool with cracked tiles) so we probably didn't miss much.
Breakfast was served in the small downstairs area and consisted of sliced bread, some cold, greasy empenadas and cornflakes. No hot options or cheeses or even water.
Because of all the issues, we cut our losses and checked out after 1 night. The receptionist was apologetic/acknowledged that similar complaints had been made by other guests. We were promised we would receive a refund for the unused nights we had paid for given the circumstances, but this did materialise.
