"Breakfast, lunch and dinner warianty was amazing and lot's of fresh and local produce to choose from. Menu favorites included local seafood and items changed daily. Room was always nicely kept up and clean. We had nice view overlooking the ocean. All the stuff was always super attentive, welcoming and friendly ready to help with anything we needed. This was our first time staying at RIU hotel and I’m already planning my next vacation at one of their properties. Worth every penny."

"The hotel is fantastic and we ate in the Italian and Portuguese restaurants. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Room was great and the hotel picked up from the passports that it was my wife’s birthday and left some bubbles for us when we returned from a Levada walk. Turn left out of hotel and walk 20 mins and some great restaurants got to try Bistrot Des Agnes. Turn right and 25 mins walk into Funchal. We’re coming back and will definitely stay at Porto Mare again"

"Great location, super nice staff, comfortable rooms and good varied buffet breakfast only down side was that the room with ocean view did not have much of a view at all. It was in a lateral at the back and you could only see a little patch in the distance. Not what I was expecting when I booked room with an ocean view."
