We chose this hotel very carefully, mainly because comfort was a priority for us. I’m currently pregnant and have been struggling with sleep, so having air conditioning was extremely important when booking. On Hotels.com, it clearly states that the hotel has air conditioning, which is one of the main reasons we selected it after comparing many options.
Unfortunately, upon arrival we were told that the air conditioning is not working and cannot be turned on due to building restrictions. Another explanation we got is that it is only used during the summer season, which was quite confusing and not what was advertised. At 26°C, the room was uncomfortably warm. We had to keep the windows open, which meant noise from a nearby bar and mosquito bites at night, making it hard to rest.
That said, there are definitely positives. The staff were really kind and welcoming, the breakfast was really good, and the location is very convenient for sightseeing.
However, the lack of air conditioning had a big impact on our stay. I do feel that if air conditioning is listed as an amenity, it should be available regardless of the season, or at least clearly communicated beforehand. For the price of hotels in Italy, guests should be able to rely on accurate information when booking.
Overall, a good hotel in many ways, but disappointing when it comes to the comfort we specifically booked it for.
