Tarragona was our trip's positive surprise. Beautiful town with lots of charm. All dining options were amazing with friendly and professional service but most of all fantastic food (and ambiance al fresco!). The rich history surrounds us all over.

Good
The old town and its history, the cathedral, the Roman ruins, and the network of pathways if you enjoy walking are the highlights. The port area, although being developed is industrialised, a bit scruffy in places and a little underwhelming.

Excellent
Tarragona impressed me! Heard a lot over years, but thought it was smaller, and more industrial. I'd say - one of the best tourist destinations in Spain. One day is not enough, book 2-3 days to relax and also have time to see all.

Maybe time of year but things closed early compared to Costa Dell Sol etc. Tapas cost more than in Andalucia but price of other things okay. Tarragona is not easy to get to from Barcelona Airport where some staff rude,Limited train service.
"First time back to Tarrangona for over 20 years…it’s even better than I remember and this was definitely helped by this hotel. It’s really perfect! Great location with a sea view and the amphitheatre. Room was very spacious and tastefully decorated, and all the toiletries you need for a week’s stay. Air conditioning works and is quiet! Additional ceiling fan, which was very welcome same days. Helpful and friendly staff. Gym with everything you need for a short stay and lovely views out to the sea "
"The bungalow was comfortable & had almost all the amenities of a family home. I love the security - I kept my doors & windows open all the time when at home. It was usually pretty quiet. The beach is a 5 min walk away. The beach is safe & great for swimming. The location is close to a bus stop, but it it difficult to get a taxi...have to call. The area is great for sightseeing & for cycling."
"Port Plaza apartments are in a great location for the Port, the beach and the town. Check in was with a very helpful man who explained everything to us. The Aircon was good and the apartment was comfortable. We would return."
