We were very fortunate to have a room in the front with a wonderful lake view. The hotel is comfortable older property, but the room and bathroom were large and spotless. Location is excellent, right next to the bus stop close to the town. Restaurant is excellent. Only negative is the absence of a grab bar in the bathtub/shower.

One of the nicest places we have stayed in Italy. Very close to the Swiss border and the town of Lugano. Facilities were excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. The grounds were manicured. The spa and the indoor pool were excellent. Outdoor pools were "open" but not heated so too cold to try them. The breakfast was more than the common fare found at the usual European hotels. We had a beautiful view of the lake from our room, but we spent most of our time on the patio downstairs anyway. We’d recommend this place to anyone!
To enter the Hotel Excelsior Splendide is to experience the gently fading grandeur of another age. Yes, we had a 'room with a view' of the lake, with the ferries and hydrofoils, the passeggiata, the sun setting over the early 20th Century and George Bloody Clooney's villa somewhere over there. The hotel boasts several sets of plush lounges in the lobby, a restaurant, a lift, and a magnificent marble staircase which we used by preference, because we can, and really just for the grandeur of it...
Staff was very accommodating, courteous, and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Stayed a week and it felt like home! Large pool, and gym. Which were clean and very usuable. There was a horse track across the street, but it was not loud and it did not dictract me from my sleep.
Checked in real late and had a hard time finding it even thru the GPS from the car rental. Staff was very nice and helpful and friendly. Super nice pool and sauna area. Room was very cozy and clean. Bed was big and clean.
