We were in Santa Margherita for a wedding, and on arrival discovered that another couple we knew had also chosen this hotel, a reassuring sign in itself. After unloading (see "needed improvements" below), we found everything in excellent shape and recently renovated: the A/C worked, bath was very nice, it was even roomy for a European hotel. Good breakfast, helpful staff, and a sister hotel around the corner that has a (very basic) gym. Location was central enough to walk to the beach hotels...
Great updated space. The only downside is the noise from people returning to their rooms late at night (you can hear people talking). Otherwise great place to stay and very helpful staff.

This was a great little hotel. Very impressed with the staff. I had an early morning train before the breakfast room was open. When I checked out the desk agent fixed me a cup of coffee and gave me a sweet. That was service!
My stay at Best Western Metropoli was very enjoyable! The location of this hotel is perfect in many ways. Close to Palazzo Ferrari and all the sites in Genoa. Plus, very conveniently located to transportation, dining and shopping. The staff ware very friendly, kind and accommodating! I am a solo female traveler and I felt very safe and comfortable at this hotel. I would highly recommend it for your stay in Genoa. Safe travels!
Very nice hotel. Very difficult to find. GPS does not guide you to the correct place. Hospitality could have been better. We had two rooms. When we asked for a 30-minute extension for checkout, they refused, telling us that we could only have 10 minutes, since the hotel was full. That was patently false. There were hardly any guests to be seen anywhere. I was surprised to find the personnel so unaccommodating. It left a bad impression to an otherwise nice hotel.
