Amazing mansion conversion into an event center and hotel. And there is even a lift to get you up to the top floor! Breakfast was generous and cooked to order. It was somewhat difficult for me to find using GPS. Needed to ask for help at the Tesco petrol station.

The Scholar is located on the campus of the University of Edinburgh. It was in a cute building with pretty landscaping to walk through. The bus is a five minute walk from the door and takes you anywhere you need to go in town for a few dollars. The hotel was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom had everything you need including a heated towel rack. I made hot chocolate in the room with the provided electric kettle. My daughter and I ate dinner in Abacus, the restaurant...
Dalhousie Castle is the ideal place if you're looking to stay in a castle in the Edinburgh area. It's about a 20 minute taxi ride from the city center which is just far enough to be out in the peaceful Scottish countryside. The castle itself is absolutely beautiful, and sits on grounds that are equally so, with archery, falconry, and several great walking paths.

We stayed at The Raeburn for one night on a recent trip to Edinburgh but wish we could have stayed a few more! The room was huge with lovely woodwork and a marble bathroom (the fixtures were top-notch with a huge tub, huge shower, double sink, and towel warmer). Our king-sized bed was very comfortable and there was also a large flat-screen TV. The elevator made it easy to get to our room and there was parking on-site. The staff was friendly and helpful. Nice people, nice breakfast - just nice! Not a central location - about a 20 minute walk to the Royal Mile - but we prefer the quiet to the noise of the more touristy areas and it's a nice walk. Definitely recommend.
This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in the UK (and I've been staying at quite a few 5 star hotels). The staff was professional, friendly, and accomodating. They def pay attention to details and ensure we have the best experience. Even provided me some of the best local recs and I was quite impressed (and this is coming from a foodie like me)
Loved that these are historical old town homes. Very charming. Easy walk to a main tram line to get into Old Town in just a few minutes. Mini M&S just by the Haymarket station and a larger full M&S just a few minutes away.
The space was unuque and beautiful. Definite old world charm. The staff was helpful with suggestions, and friendly. The common spaces were very nice. I would say the room is good for sleeping, but just be aware they are very tiny rooms. It was exactly what we needed, but if I wanted to stay at a place where I'd be in my room a lot I would probably choose something else. But since my room was just for sleeping I would stay here again because I liked all the other spaces.
