Learn more about Oban
A horseshoe bay cradles this Scottish transport hub where ferries depart for Hebridean adventures and whisky enthusiasts sample drams at Oban Distillery. McCaig's Tower – a curious colosseum-like structure – rewards climbers with sweeping views across the Firth of Lorn. The seafood couldn't be fresher; watch fishing boats unload their catch before it appears on local restaurant plates. Dunollie Museum offers glimpses into clan history, while Dunstaffnage Castle stands as a weathered sentinel nearby. Between island-hopping excursions, explore the War and Peace Museum or arrange wildlife-watching trips. During summer, the population triples as visitors arrive for sea kayaking, diving, and the simple pleasure of watching sunset paint the harbor gold.

The Scot
"Great location with parking. Staff very helpful especially as we had left something behind. Good location for exploring the area. Lots of dining options close by."
Oyster Inn
"Great place to stay. The restaurant/pub were nice, the room was quiet and comfortable. Would stay here again"
Corran House Guest House & Hostel
"Nice clean room with complimentary teas & coffees in the ground floor kitchen. Lively pub underneath the hotel with bands playing. May be noisy for some but I loved it and couldn't really hear anything in rear facing room"
Muthu Oban Regent Hotel
"Enjoyed our stay room was lovely great big comfy bed nice touch with water in the room. Staff very friendly Beautiful art deco inside Would stay again and recommend +++++"
The Pierrooms
"This was an ideal place for an overnight stay before the ferry. Although the room is compact it is comfortable and well-equipped. I emailed before arrival and was sent the code to open the door (although we couldn't get it added to Google wallet, the web app worked fine, which was a relief arriving in torrential rain). Although there is some noise from people coming and going, this did not go on late and we slept really well. Room was clean and had air con. No parking but many car parks in Oban are free between 18.00 and 8.00 so this wasn't a problem for an overnight stay. I would definitely stay there again."
