Learn more about Villefranche-sur-Mer
Beneath the Mediterranean sun, pastel-colored buildings cascade down to a harbor where fishing boats bob alongside luxury yachts. The coarse sandy beach at Plage des Marinières offers a welcome alternative to Nice's stony shores. Lose yourself in the Old Town's narrow streets, where centuries-old staircases lead to unexpected viewpoints and tiny restaurants serving fresh seafood. The impressive Citadelle St Elme reveals the town's strategic importance through history. When cruise ships arrive, the population temporarily swells, but quiet corners remain for those who seek them. For a glamorous side trip, visit Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, where gardens compete with art collections for attention. The deep harbor attracts visitors from Monaco and along the Riviera.

Albert 1'er Hotel Nice, France
"amazing staff clean rooms love that they had a shower i could use before my room was ready"
Mercure Nice Promenade Des Anglais
"Amazing hotel in an incredible location (Promenade Anglais, directly in front of the water) with reasonable rates. We stayed in a room that had a garden view and partial water view, which was well worth it. The interior was clean, modern, and spacious (for Europe) with great AC. The best part, however, are the staff. Dorothee in particular offers outstanding local recommendations for bars, beaches, and restaurants. She is the best! Adrian is also very kind and helpful—he will call local places for you if your French is rudimentary. We highly recommend this hotel and look forward to our next visit!"
Hôtel La Villa Nice Victor Hugo
"A generally well kept boutique hotel that does the basics well. Room was spacious and clean. We were happy with the location as it was only about a 10 minute walk to the beach promenade and close to transportation and restaurants while still feeling like we were away from tourist crowd. Air con works very well while breakfast was ok but overpriced. You don't really have much to do with staff. Would stay here again."
Fairmont Monte Carlo
"Simply the best"
Le Meridien Nice
"Central location, big modern hotel. A staff member explicitly told us the pool closed at 1030 and when I brought my kid to swim we were told quite rudely that the pool closed at 6. The rooftop becomes a bar and restaurant after 6 and that is open until 1030. Just miscommunications but not handled with warmth or apologetically. Meanwhile, the sea was too rough to swim in (so it was not a substitute for the pool at that moment) and the rude staff in fact denied that the red flag meant that the lifeguards deemed it unsafe to swim. It was so bizarre and I felt like the focus of this hotel was not guests but perhaps the bar clientele? Sad because I wanted to love it."
Hôtel Le Provençal
"We loved Hôtel Le Provençal. They accepted us last minute when our planned accommodations were unacceptable. Hôtel Le Provençal was clean, comfortable, and charming. The staff and the breakfast were impeccable. Highly recommended."
Sheraton Nice
"Loved the rooftop pool and restaurant. Room was great and the walk to the airport was 5 min and just across the street"
Hotel Du Centre, un hotel AMMI
"Great place if you just want to sleep in prime location in between beach and the train station. Jean Médecin is where it’s all happening so this was very convenient location. No amenities really, very tiny elevator for 2 people max not including luggages. Has AC which is/was a plus as it’s very hot here in August. Staff were beyond amazing from reception, room cleaners to the cafe staff downstairs. Rooms are tiny for the price but again, can’t beat the location. Right next to the Notre Dame Cathedral of Nice. Lots of restaurants right outside. Stayed here with family of of 4 total. Deluxe rooms have a double bed and another twin bed. You can also book a 4 person room that comes with two beds which we are moving to next and they face the cathedral that lights up nicely at night. Nice is very safe, went for walks from the hotel to the ocean, people don’t sleep here, always busy."
