The hotel is a country club, so golf enthusiasts frequent it. Some of them start really early, so you can sometimes hear their noise. Maintenance personnel mowing the green can also be heard. We were unfortunate to be roomed near one of the restaurants, so you can hear the merrymaking of the party that booked the restaurant until 10pm that night. The club also has a mini grocery, Fair Price, that sells any possible emergency item you might've forgotten. Staff are very friendly and polite...
I was there just for one short overnight stay, but I was really impressed with the hotel. Very comfortable, very clean and the staff were great. And the breakfast was excellent! You can order from an "ala carte buffet" menu which is kind of interesting, and all the items I ordered -- from typical Western bakery items and egg dishes to spicy Laksa -- were outstanding. Definitely consider this property when choosing a hotel in the area!
Nice hotel in a great location. We love the Orchard Road area. The breakfast is very nice. We did not eat dinner there so can't comment on that. The standard rooms are smallish but well laid out. They were fine for our purpose as we did not spend much time in our room other than sleeping. I would certainly stay there again and would send my friends there.
This is a beautiful property and very conveniently located to a lot of attractions, food, shopping, and even a casino. It's also not too far from the beach. This is definitely more of a touristy location as opposed to staying in the city and getting a more local experience. But I loved it! It was super hot when we came so we spent a lot of time at the pool. The pool area is beautiful and so much room to spread out. I would highly recommend this place!
The Carleton is my #1 choice when in Singapore The value and location is my main reasons for choosing the Carleton over all other hotels in the area. The Raffles Hotel, Chines and Raffles City mall is literally a walk across the street. There is a food pavilion with small restaurants and bars with live entertainment and TV's for sports in the lower courtyard. The MRT is a short walk. Absolutely a stellar experience. Staff is first rate. Location is perfect and convenient to just about everything. The room is outstanding. The shower is THE best I have ever experienced anywhere, period. Not an inexpensive property, BUT well worth the price of admission for a perfect Singapore stay.
The hotel is connected via pathway to the Novena MRT station so it is very easy to get around Singapore.
The only thing I did not like was that the wall between the rooms are thin, I could hear things from the next door.
We liked the old feeling of the hotel plus looked kinda old European. May have been a shop house in the past. So we loved the ambiance . The room was also very spacious for three adults.
I have traveled to 50+ country's and have never had a better hotel experience. They have a complimentary airport pick up which was nice, since after 30 hrs of travel time I did not have to deal with public transportation or a taxi.
