The home kept pristine. They have put up signs in english explaining a lot of things about the home and Japanese culture in general. The owner is a very nice lady. You are in good hands staying at Sofuan.

A sweet traditional house with a lovely inn keeper who was so kind and helpful during our stay. She even helped us book a reservation at a wonderful sushi restaurant. Great location for visiting all areas of kanazawa on foot!

This traditional home was a real treat. The garden was magical on a rainy morning. The host was lovely and very helpful. This is the property I will remember from our trip to Japan. The home is large enough for families (we were five adults). Steep stairs mean the young or elderly should sleep in the tatami room on the main floor.

A truly unique experience. Our gracious hostess, Ms. Fujita, welcomed us with freshly prepared matcha and mochi. The machiya is spacious, spotless, and has very comfortable beds and futons. There are small handwritten cards throughout the house detailing historical information and conservation efforts. The washer/dryer combo works great. The stairs require some agility. The small garden is magical in the rain. It’s a very short walk to either the Omicho market (best seafood!) or the Kanazawa Castle. The taxi ride to and from the station is about ¥1200 (less than $10). Be sure to have the address in Japanese ready to show the cab driver. All in all, we highly recommend this machiya.

Hiuse located ideally close to all attractions. This house keep it's traditional charm and same time newly renovated, having local crafts touch with its description which helps to understand history and traditions of this region. Place greatly equipped with all needed to stay with family. Special thank you to owner, unforgettable experience due to her kind support.
