There are plenty of restaurants that are open late all around the hotel within walking distance. Because it is a small suburb there are plenty of pharmacies, tobacco stores, little bodegas ... it's fabulous. You can find anything you want. "We used this hotel to spend one night to catch a plane out of Madrid in the morning and it was perfect for this purpose. When we are staying in Madrid for sightseeing we stay at a hotel on the gran via. Very convenient shuttle was on time and efficient. The breakfast was great and we ate at the restaurant for dinner at the adjacent segment of the hotel the night before and the meal was really good as well. There were youth soccer teams staying there and having fun so the hotel has a family...
"The room was clean and we had a nice view at 6th floor. The staff was friendly. The breakfast provided a good number of choices. The airport shuttle bus was helpful. But remember to get the tickets from the front desk 45 minutes before it leaves the hotel. There were only 18 seats on the shuttle bus. There were a lot of people in the hotel. It seems that people like the location which is convenient to the airport."

As noted in other reviews this hotel is in a residential area which equates to a quiet and secure stay. Very attentive and helpful staff at all levels. We stayed here at the beginning of our stay and then again tens days later prior to leaving for a total of five nights. Both times were wonderful. The breakfast is expansive and complete. Really loved staying here! We booked pretty late for our trip so we knew that this hotel was not near the city center. However it was a 5 min walk to the nearest metro station and then a 30 min metro ride to the center of Madrid which goes by a lot faster than you think. We were worried about using the metro but it was actually pretty easy!

The Wellington Hotel is very well located and it is truly a 5 star hotel. The service is impeccable, with great amenities, nightly turndown service, and an excellent executive lounge. The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean. The restaurants in he hotel are great, including a michelin starred restaurant.
Cool location. Parking was convenient. LOVED the decor and art. Delicious breakfast. Santa Ana square had great food options. You are in the heart of the adventure and all the disco people will invite you to their clubs at night.
Excellent location. Great staff. Rooms are immaculate and decorated beautifully. This is my 2nd time staying here. Lovely hotel. Breakfast is amazing. While not close to all the major museums, it is extremely close to the buses that will take you to them in minutes. Also, only about 3 blocks from the bus/train station. Bus 200 will take you from/to Madrid Barajas airport. If I ever come back to Madrid, I will stay here.
Everything was great except for two things. First, there was no coffee maker in the room, which is an absolute must for me in the morning. Second, there was no bar soap or wash cloths. If you're not going to have bar soap, which I strongly prefer, then you need to have wash cloths for the liquid soap, right?
This hotel is located in Salamanca, which is definitely an upscale area. Very high end shopping and an abundance of restaurants nearby. About a 20-25 minute walk to the Prado, Reina Sophia, and Thyssen museums. A great walk, don't bother with the bus or Metro. Definitely would stay again.
