We spent a one night stay at Armathwaite Hall Hotel and immediately wished it was for longer...The reception staff were exceptionally welcoming, indeed all staff were friendly and helpful. Fortunately, the Lake View resturant was open for dinner during our stay; the food was delightful, well presented and perfectly proportioned. The spa was lovely, especially, the outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the gardens; which seemed a big hit with all of the guests...Overall we had a wonderful, restful stay and we fully intend to return in the very near future.

The food deserves a review all of its own! Incredible stay, amazed this isn’t a 5* hotel. The staff were also incredible and couldn’t do enough to make the whole experience perfect.

Retirement treat….!
Absolutely superb from start to finish. The property itself is fantastic - traditional and characterful but with contemporary modern facilities. The spa is excellent and attention to detail second to none.
Food was delicious from breakfast to evening meal.
The staff are exemplary and special thanks to Fiona on front desk for the upgrade which really made our stay that bit extra special. Thankyou.
Will definitely return soon

Spent 2 nights here for our 28th wedding anniversary and loved it. Plenty of public spaces meant that it never felt overcrowded, The grandeur of the building both inside and out. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nice selection of food and drinks. Would definitely return.

Lovely property and facilities, unfortunately hotel pool policy is very not friendly towards families with children. Property website states 2 time slots of 2h for children to access pool, however on arrival we were informed that they changed it to 1h slot only at 8.30-9.30am. We felt treated as 2nd category customers, hence won’t come back

This is such a special place, historic, scenic, homely, warm and welcoming. The garden suite was outstanding and the food quality excellent. The only thing I could possibly complain about was the Guiness as sad as that is. It frustrates me incredibly when I order a branded draught beverage and it comes in a different branded glass. The Guiness was poured in one go whereas the connoisseurs of the black beauty recognise and appreciate it’s a slow patient process leaving mid way to stand for a while. I did not like to inform the extremely pleasant and obliging Italian barman in the error of his ways. Apart from that minor misdemeanor we can’t wait until we return.

Peaceful and great room
The room was really comfortable with a huge bed, a separate dressing room, a sofa and both separate bath and shower. The seats on the balcony reclined and looked out towards the trees and the lake. We had an hour to try out the Spa and loved the outside hot tub. Only wish we were staying longer to try out all the facilities and walk around the grounds
