Very Happy

The hotel is well located, not far from the beach and Promenafe des Anglais. Its on a quiet, leafy street. The staff were very nice, efficient and helpful, both at the desk and in the restaurant. Clean, roomy on the 7th floor, plenty of closet space. There wasnt alot of light in the bathroom for doing makeup but otherwise, all good.

Splendid Hotel was splendid indeed! Within walking distance to good restaurants, and the Promenade des anglais. The rooftop pool was the highlight! We spent our second day there, lounging and enjoying the friendly service. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Location is lovely and the roof top bar with incredible views is what makes this hotel. We booked the junior suite and it looks nothing like the pictures. May need to update those to give a more realistic view of what the room really looks like and it’s very outdated. But it was fine. Only other criticism was the dreadful drainage smell coming from the bathroom…… we did tell reception on departure and were told it’s a common thing on the French Riviera….. I would be interested to know if every other hotel has this same complaint for a 4 star hotel?

Better than expected

We had a very nice stay at the Splendid Hotel. The location was great and only a short walk to the promenade and many, many restaurants and attractions. The view from the 8th floor is amazing - there is a pool, hot tub and plenty of seating and the staff will bring your food and drinks out to you. It makes for an amazing way to experience the sunset. A few minor issues - the hotel only gives a single bottle of still water per day despite the number of guests in the room. Calling down to get more was a hassel - they directed us to go to reception and argued when I wanted to buy more. I had to go to the bar upstairs on floor 8 to get a 1L bottle of water but you could tell they were unfamiliar with the request. Very minor thing but the hotel needs to make things like that more easily accessible. Americans like our water. The hotel breakfast was also great, during the weekdays. On Saturday before we departed, the already very small area was filled with guests and there were no plates, forks, and it generally was unclean (spoons caked it egg, found a hair in my sausage). A disappointing departure day. Beware also while floor 3 looked nice, but I had seen how dark and dingy the 2nd floor was and was shocked how inconsistent it was. Overall, we would go back for sure, as the staff were generally nice and accommodating and we had a nice experience.

Splendid is a good “4 Star” hotel in central Nice. It represents solid price/value for the area. The best thing about the hotel is the rooftop (8th floor) Bar and Restaurant. Their breakfast buffet runs $19 Euro and is a good value. Worth noting their dinner menu is quite limited.

Very run down

This is not a four star hotel. Maybe three on a good day. Don’t be fooled by the reception - the rooms are very dated and have old dark brown furniture from the 70’s. The bathroom tiles and plastic mat is chipped and torn and there is almost no water in the shower. We travel every month for work, and leisure, so we have seen our share of establishments. For this price you should be able to get something much better. The worst thing was the eight (?) sun chairs by the pool that they allowed people putting out towels on and then leaving to go out for breakfast. Such rude and very tacky behavior is absolutely appalling that a ”four star” hotel condone. The staff and food at the pool restaurant were very good and the location of the hotel is also quite good. And double glazing towards the street was nice even though that did not help as the aircon sounded like a jet fighter all night long.

Great roof top bar, swimming pool and hot tub with fantastic views over Nice and within easy walking of the city centre. Unfortunately the air conditioning in the room didn’t work or had been turned off so the room temperature was very warm and slightly uncomfortable.

Despite the heat, the AC was off in the hotel. Had to open the windows. The suite was old and moldy and my wife hard asthma symptoms. A four star price for a one star hotel. Don’t stay there.

Our room was not close to 4 star hotel… old fashioned, carpet on the floor, holes in the walls… really disappointing. Rooftop was nice, swimming pool small and deep! Limited chairs around the pool.
