Hotel Catedral was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The facility was great and was in a great location. Our kids liked the breakfast buffet, especially the pastries :) The balcony bar was really nice with a great view of the catedral and the historic area. We had the unfortunate timing of our visit being during a few days of protests during our stay which closed off roads around the area as well as the main Zocalo itself being closed off for world cup preparations but nothing that the hotel could do anything about.

Behind the cathedral and templo mayor. Probably good for exploring the historic district but neighborhood is kinda sketchy especially at night. Tour bus depot is just across the street. Excellent staff, clean, fair price.

The rooms were really spacious, clean and cozy! One one of the first nights my sister got food poisoning and was feeling sick at 3am, and their 24 hour staff was on call and helped get us medicine for her upset stomach and she said it saved her. The food at the restaurant was ok a bit plain for my taste, and the service was very welcoming but a bit slow. Overall the location was amazing if you want to stay in the historical district, I will definitely be staying again with my family.
Bed’s were large and incredibly comfortable 10/10
The staff saw that we slept with the warmer blanket under the duvet so they started making the bed to accommodate for that very nice touch
The view from our room’s terrace
Drinks at the rooftop bar were good

We were very lucky to be given a free room upgrade to a corner suite, which was really spacious and perfect for a relaxing couple of nights at Hotel Catedral. The hotel is really well located for exploring the historic centre of Mexico City and for accessing the metro to go further afield. Breakfast was good quality and there was lots to choose from. Free water in the lobby included a water filter to top up bottles, which was appreciated.

Breakfast buffet was slightly above average, nothing to get excited about. That said, the staff and service are amazing, and the food offering is ample. They do have omelettes made to order, and a few other things. Next time, I'll go with something different and will probably be happier.

We travel to Mexico City very often - and from here to many other interesting places in Mexico. We enjoyed our five days stay at the La Catedral hotel, in the Centro Histórico, tremendously. In fact, what this beautiful hotel offers, definitely exceeded our expectations. The architecture of this hotel is amazing; the people working here keep the hotel in excellent shape. Very important to us is always the staff in the hotels we choose to stay. All of them here at La Catedral are very welcoming, friendly, polite, helpful, efficient; in short, very professional. 8/10 Very good

Hotel Catedral is right in the heart of the historic city center. It's a fabulous location for being able to step outside and be literally a few steps from the cathedral, the Templo Mayor, the Zócalo, and the Palacio Nacional. The streets on either side of the hotel are very small and walkable--no major car traffic. I loved being in the thick of things. The breakfast was an enormous buffet and very good. There were lovely cookies, fruits, and bottled water set out at all times in the lobby. You can also look through a glass floor and see ancient ruins below. I imagine there are some wonderful rooms with beautiful views available, but I had selected the least expensive room. It was very Soviet era--bare bones, drab and dark, looking out over an interior atrium. This was not a luxury experience. There was no coffee maker, just a couple of bottles of drinking water. On the bright side, the bed and pillows were very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water, and great water pressure in the shower. If you can get a nice room, I think this would be a great place to stay.
