Top neighborhoods in Zürich

Old Town Zürich
Old Town Zürich dazzles with its medieval charm and picture-perfect streets. The twin spires of Grossmünster and Fraumünster churches stand watch over cobblestone squares lined with colorful guild houses. Wander through car-free zones to discover hidden courtyards, ancient fountains, and cultural treasures like the Kunsthaus and Swiss National Museum. Refuel at cozy cafés serving rösti and fondue, or browse boutiques selling Swiss watches and handcrafted goods. Most attractions sit within easy walking distance, while excellent tram connections at Paradeplatz and Rathaus stops make exploring beyond the neighborhood a breeze.

Seefeld
Seefeld serves up luxurious lakeside living with a side of old-world charm. The tree-lined streets lead to gorgeous Lake Zürich, where locals stroll the waterfront paths through Zürichhorn Park. Art lovers can explore the Museum Bellerive or catch a performance at the elegant Opera House. The Chinese Garden offers a peaceful escape when you need a breather from the upscale boutiques. Dining options range from chic cafes to sophisticated restaurants with lake views. Tram stops at Hoschgasse, Frohlichstrasse, and Feldeggstrasse make getting around a breeze. Though accommodations lean toward the fancy side, the neighborhood's walkability and tranquil atmosphere make it worth every franc.

Aussersihl
Aussersihl has transformed from working-class roots to Zürich's hippest district, where alternative vibes meet urban cool. Street art pops against industrial backdrops while the iconic Freitag Tower built from shipping containers makes for a perfect photo op. Langstrasse buzzes with neon-lit bars and vintage shops, while Viadukt's converted railway arches house trendy boutiques and eateries that locals love. The dining scene serves up everything from Turkish döner to Vietnamese pho at prices that won't completely destroy your wallet. Getting around is a breeze with excellent tram connections and walkable streets that let you explore at your own pace. Boutique hotels and design hostels offer industrial-chic aesthetics for travelers seeking style with their slumber.

Enge
Enge strikes the perfect balance between big-city buzz and lakeside bliss in Zürich. Elegant waterfront promenades lead to cultural treasures like the FIFA World Football Museum and Museum Rietberg with its Asian art collections. You can soak up stunning Alpine views, catch a boat tour, or just people-watch as locals stroll through manicured parks. The neighborhood offers upscale dining with lake views and excellent transportation connections. Hop on frequent trams or the S-Bahn to explore, or simply walk along tree-lined streets past Belle Époque mansions and contemporary glass buildings. Swimming spots dot the lakefront during summer months.

Oerlikon
Oerlikon blends business bustle with surprising artistic flair. The former industrial area now hosts major concerts at Halle 622 and art installations throughout the district. Travelers appreciate the modern architecture alongside thoughtfully preserved factory buildings. MFO-Park offers a green escape with its unique metal framework covered in climbing plants. Getting around couldn't be easier with Zürich Oerlikon railway station connecting you to everywhere worth going. Business travelers appreciate the proximity to corporate headquarters while still having access to theaters and music venues. Most restaurants cater to professionals with upscale dining options available near office buildings.

Zürich and related destinations
Wander along the Bahnhofstrasse, where Swiss precision meets high-end shopping and the world's bankers somehow make wealth seem tasteful. The Kunsthaus Zurich displays masterpieces with such casual confidence you'd think Picasso was a local. At Zürich Opera House, even the cough drops are probably engineered for optimal acoustics. The Swiss National Museum chronicles a nation that remained neutral while perfecting chocolate and timepieces. FIFA World Football Museum celebrates the beautiful game with exhibits that transcend team loyalties. Lake Zürich offers boat trips where the water appears suspiciously clean, while Zoo Zurich houses animals in enclosures that seem more luxurious than many human accommodations.

Boutique Hotel Wellenberg
"Clean room and walkable to train station"
St Gotthard Hotel
"The location of this hotel is excellent! Very close to the train station where our tours meet up point was a meters away. This hotel is not a 4.5 hotel though."
Hotel Limmathof
"The staff was very friendly and the girls at the front desk spoke english very well. Don't get the breakfast buffet thru expedia as it is less expensive directly thru the front desk you just need to let them know before midnight. I was surprised when I saw the scrambled eggs and bacon. The eggs and bacon appeared under cooked BUT they weren't. And they were very good. They also had some fruit and cereals and bread and a toaster along with milk, water, orange juice and some other juice I didn't try. They would bring you coffee if requested. One disappointing thing was the coffee bar in the lobby. It's instant coffee. If your into hot tea they did have several kinds of tea bags available. The other is NO WASHCLOTHS in the bathroom. Apparently not uncommon though as our next stay was the same. Lastly no A/C but thats normal for Switzerland. A really nice thing was the close proximity to the train station. About a 5 minute walk. One other is that Starbucks is just 2 doors away and there are multiple small restaurants on the street with outside seating for when the weather is nice. Before I forget, there is a back entrance that is much easier to use when you have suitcases as the front entrance has stairs. If I were to go back to Zurich for another vacation I would stay there again."

"Should offer free bottles of still water in the rooms"
Ruby Mimi Hotel Zurich by IHG
"Friendly, helpful staff. Very happy that room was ready early. Room was clean but on the small side. Comfortable bed. A bit unusual layout in that the shower was in the room, but covered by a curtain so there was privacy. The toilet was separate. The sink was in the room. It all worked out fine though. Another plus is this hotel is very close to the train station, so very convenient for traveling."

Placid Hotel Design & Lifestyle Zurich

Novotel Zurich City West
"A really friendly hotel which was perfect for families with young children. The reception staff were always helpful. I was always able to get warm milk for my toddler who drinks from a bottle. Swimming pool was also perfect for the children. Breakfast variety wasn’t great but none the less everyone was fed."
Hotel Marta - 1950’s architecture in Zurich’s vibrant old town, near main station
"Es céntrico a pocos minutos de la estación de trenes el personal muy atento y la chica de recepción muy amable y ayuda en todos hay café y té 24 horas la habitación es algo pequeña pero para pocos días resuelve no tiene aire acondicionado pero se pueden abrir las ventanas y la noche es fresca el desayuno tiene huevo hervido pero no otras variantes como frito o omelet pero en general no está mal hay pudiera ser mas variado"
