Nanaimo and related destinations
Kayak through sheltered bays where seals and orcas make surprise appearances along the rugged coastline. The Harbour City's Old City Quarter charms with boutiques and cafes housed in heritage buildings worth an afternoon's exploration. Sample plump local oysters paired with island-brewed craft beers at waterfront pubs where servers point out passing ferries by name. Protection Island and Newcastle Island Marine Provincial Park offer peaceful escapes just offshore. The Nanaimo Museum reveals the city's evolution from coal mining hub to tourist haven. Don't leave without trying the city's namesake dessert - a Nanaimo Bar - which locals will insist tastes better here than anywhere else on earth.

Ramada by Wyndham Nanaimo
"The breakfast was good but the coffee was very weak. Not good. The roam was clean. They want at looking T changing the rugs or putting in other flooring. Overall, except for the coffee the hotel was good and I would stay there again."
Quality Inn
"We stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting Nanaimo. It’s close to the downtown, parking is on a first come first served basis in an an underground lot, but we found there was enough. Rooms were clean, decently sized, and the bed was comfy and well made. Would stay again."
The Grand Hotel Nanaimo
"All 👍"
Coast Bastion Hotel
"Location to ferry terminals. Beautiful views and nicely remodeled."
Travelodge by Wyndham Nanaimo
"Convenient to the ferry terminal when coming in late."
Harbour Light Motel
"Once we got inside our room, the room was fine. With our late arrival (about 11 PM) we had to plead for the agent to respect our booking on hotels.com He left a key for us in a front door lock box of the inn. But there was a moment of doubt when he answered the phone at 10 PM and said “we have now closed”. Note: They need to leave coffee stirring sticks or plastic spoons to stir the fine coffee they offer in the rooms. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean."

Painted Turtle Guesthouse (Hostel)
"The hostel was simple, but very clean and comfortable. The location was excellent—right downtown, with everything within easy reach. The staff were very kind and helpful, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Nanaimo!"
Best Western Northgate Inn
