"We booked our stay through Expedia, expecting a room with a balcony and an ocean view. Unfortunately, our dining experience at the High Tide restaurant was disappointing. From the hostess who seated us to the uncomfortable low seating at our table, everything felt subpar. The food had no flavor at all, especially when compared to their sister property, Bernardus, in Carmel Valley—there’s simply no comparison. On a positive note, the pool and staff at the hotel were excellent and very accommodating. However, while the room was decent, it did not justify the additional price we were charged for our two-night stay."

"Hey - if it's good enough for James Dean and Marilyn Monroe, I'll take it. It's advertised as an "historical place" which, generally means you won't have an elevator to the second floor, or in this case, a shower; seriously - there was a bathtub in our room, but no shower. Great amenities, and there's a quaint cafe and coffee shop attached to the place. Add that it is in the middle of the mountains in some of the most scenic areas of the central coast, and you can see why golden age celebs and movie stars came to this place as a retreat. Charming and worth the stay."

"I needed a place to stay for the night to see an event at Levi’s Stadium. I’ve never booked with Sonesta but it was fairly close to the stadium. The staff were friendly and outgoing . The room I stayed in was very clean and accommodating . I enjoyed my experience and plan to book in the future if I stay in the area."
