Learn more about Newburyport
Cobblestone streets wind between Federal-style mansions and salt-weathered wharves in this historic coastal haven. The Custom House Maritime Museum reveals seafaring tales that shaped America's early economy. Take a sunset sail on the Merrimack River where locals might point out osprey nests hidden along the shore. Plum Island's pristine beaches and wildlife sanctuary offer prime bird watching without the Cape Cod crowds. Market Square buzzes with independent boutiques housed in buildings that have witnessed centuries of maritime commerce. The Firehouse Center for the Arts hosts performances in what was once the town's actual firehouse. Locals recommend timing visits to the waterfront promenade for high tide, when fishing boats return with their daily catch.

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Boston-Andover
"La Quinta Inn & Suites is a good basic hotel, the room are nice and large, very clean with an ample bathroom and shower stall. A good breakfast is included daily. And there is a nice gym and pool to stay in shape while traveling. The lobby amenities could have been more interesting and varied, and the coffee quality needs improving. Otherwise everything was very comfortable."
SpringHill Suites by Marriott Boston Peabody
"All staff members during our stay were extremely hospitable and kind!"
Hampton Inn Portsmouth Central
"Pool and hot tub were inder going maintenance bit we didn’t knock the hotel for that. Onsite laundry was helpful. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Spacious bathroom. Only knock is the carpet in the hallways look really old and worn."
Motel 6 Danvers, MA - Boston North
"Honestly Worth the money we spent, we got to enjoy 3 days in downtown Salem whilst staying here at this property. The only bad thing is that there was a “cat pee” odor in the bathroom so we kept the door shut and even bought a bottle of Lysol spray so we can withstand using the bathroom. The vent in the bathroom was filled with dust as well. That’s my only complaint if you will. The staff at the front desk were very nice informative and helpful. I enjoyed my stay here besides the bathroom mishap but we didn’t let that ruin our fun adventures."
The Wylie Inn and Conference Center at Endicott College
"Fine property. Quiet and not far from beach and Salem."
The Northshore Hotel - Boston/Danvers
"Room was updated and clean. Beds were comfortable and we had no problem regulating the temperature of the room. It did have a musty smell there when we first arrived but we opened the window for a few minutes and it was fine. It was nice to be able to walk out our door to our car, and was a quick trip out if we forgot something. I would say that, as others mentioned, it was a little tricky to find and was on a one way road so was harder to get turned back around….maybe a larger sign would help. The continental breakfast had a good variety - bagels, toast, muffins, cereal, fruit, coffee and juice. I saw other reviews complaining about no protein….but this is literally what a continental breakfast is. The only complaint (and even at that it didn’t affect us in this weather), was that there was a good 1” gap under the door that you could feel the air coming in. All in all, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again."
Plaza Inn
"Simple, clean and comfortable."
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Salem NH
"Convenient location. Good breakfast. Internet was good."
The Cove At Salem
"The facility appears to be new and exceptionally clean. The rooms a large with comfortable furniture. The bathrooms are well equipped and clean. You get a combination code for your room which is nice. No need to keep track of a key. There is plenty of parking for now but more rooms are being built. Cell phone service (at least Verizon) is TERRIBLE around the hotel. They have WIFI that works fairly well in the evening, but I found that when the staff is in the office, WIFI performance degrades a great deal. I don't know what they are doing to sap the bandwidth. For television, they provide Roku boxes on TVs. You can use your home account to access whatever streaming service that is supported by Roku. Just make sure you delete the quick access link which is supposed to delete your personal streaming accounts. If you're looking at going into Salem for the museums, etc., it is about a 20 minute walk. The sidewalks are very uneven, so the walk could be troublesome for those with walkers and canes. For restaurants and stores, that 20 minute walk is necessary. There is a breakfast place with 4 or 5 tables that you can reach within 10 minutes by walking. The staff pointed out they have something called "Skipper" for transportation and provided a phone number. They really should have mentioned the need to set up an account with Skipper before trying to arrange a ride. A map of the area should also be provided at the hotel. Some are free at the attractions."
