10/10 Excellent
"We stayed on the hotel side small studio but it did the job. This place is fantastic food all included even lobster at dinner, the beach beautiful starfish on the way in, and all the staff were caring patient and cared about their guests."
"Booked because of free shuttle for airport/ferry. No driver at ferry when I got there, called the property, a driver was there about 10 minutes later. Could have been hung up with traffic but there was no communication as to why he wasn’t there. Room wasn’t ready until 3:10, no shower pressure, patio door would not shut all the way and could not be locked. Place is good otherwise, but the food and drinks were overpriced. Spent my time next door at banarama for good cheap drinks and food. "
"PROS:
We had a beautiful view overlooking the pool. The property itself is stunning, and the facilities are equally impressive. The location is excellent, and the landscape is serene and almost divine—it truly feels like a hidden paradise.
CONS:
Unfortunately, the food and service did not match the level of the property. The meals were subpar—calling them that is generous, especially considering the prices. The wait time for food was also difficult to understand given the relatively low number of guests in the restaurant.
For example, breakfast for two—just eggs, coffee, and juice—came to $65 before tip, which feels excessive by any standard. We live year-round in a resort island community in the United States, so we have a fair basis for comparison. It’s also worth noting that in Roatán, tips and taxes are generally not included in menu prices, so be prepared for that.
At dinner, we paid $159 for one main course, one salad, and two drinks. After a 45-minute wait, the salad arrived without dressing. My wife was so hungry she ate it anyway. After that experience, we began exploring other restaurants nearby. I would definitely recommend Azure, which offers true fine dining and is well worth the 45-minute drive from Arca.
This property has all the potential to become a five-star resort—it simply needs the food and service to rise to the same level as the setting."
"We had a "garden room" which means no ocean view. Nice patio but looking at another building. There is a Pool and swim up bar. Pool is designed for kids and there were a lot of them! Only 5 lounge chairs that were never available. Servers were very polite and helpful. "
"The front desk is the face of the Grand Roatan Kimpton resort. The receptionist's service was unacceptable for a hotel of this level.
We arrived at the Kimpton on February 17 at noon, like many other guests, a line of almost two dozen guests was behind us. But, after a long talk that we hadn't booked a bungalow, we couldn't reach an agreement. We are 72 and 78 years old, and without any respect, were sent to a separate bungalow with a dangerous staircase inside, the unlit, with broken lighting and a crooked gravel approach. I have a video. We asked to speak to the manager, and one of the three young men suddenly told us he was the manager. We were treated as if we had done something bad and were being punished for it. The receptionist explained that we booked our vacation through Expedia, not through IGH, and chose the wrong room. We can't pay extra, and there are no available rooms for us! All the remaining guests stayed in the building; we could see them heading to the elevator. We met and focused on the money only, and we did not get any customer appreciation or empathy. The damage was done. The next morning, professional front desk supervisor Belkis quickly got the room that matched our reservation. Dear Belkis! Thank you very much.
The hotel was not fully booked at all. This was our second visit to the Kimpton resort.
This year we appreciate the breakfast waitress Jeidsi Valdez at Alera, the friendly Kianny waitress at the Sea Cat, beach guard Byron."
