"Check in was seamless. I arrived early but staff were courteous and helpful. The view in my room was wonderful. I didn’t use the amenities or the restaurants. My trip was too quick. The location is very convenient."
"My room is a bit more spacious than an average one and I got a nice view of the skyline of NYC. The location is super convenient and I wish I had taken advantage of all the Korean restaurants around! "
"I highly recommend people to stay at the St. James Hotel! If you’re looking for a basic amenity hotel room to crash at night and explore the city all day, THIS PLACE IS FOR YOU!! I traveled to nyc to be out and about all day and come back to the hotel late to sleep. I don’t want to stay at a chain hotel and pay hundreds of dollars for 20 million amenities that I’m not going to use. The staff at the hotel are incredibly nice and helpful from the minute you check in, during your stay, to when you check out. The building itself is old but I love the charm of it and the upkeep of the building is very well done! I didn’t ever feel like there were any gross, run down parts anywhere.
The only 2 small downsides with my stay were that the wifi wasn’t good (but it could also be the tall buildings around and/or the age of the hotel) and the high pitch noise from the showers (the walls are thick and you can’t hear your neighbors but if anyone showers, you definitely hear it).
But besides those two things, I will DEFINITELY be staying at the hotel if I’m ever back in the city and will be recommending it to anyone that I know who’s going to the city. It’s in such a good location with lots to see and do!"
"Location was great and they even offered discounted parking a few blocks away about $50 per day. The first night the ac was not really cooling we had to called the receptionist and they sent someone within 20 minutes to fix it. I was surprised the room came without microwave, coffee maker and plastic cups. It had a refrigerator but no coffee machine or cups, we had gotten some juice and had to buy cups across the street for a few dollars. Beside that I enjoy the noon check-out. Afterwards I was told by staff that I had to ask for the coffee maker and cups at the front desk.
The location was perfect, we walked everywhere. "
"Overall, very good, and the staff is exceptional. Parking package very worth it, room was large, comfortable and quiet.
Under the renovation the building is old, so AC rattles from inside the walls at all times. Plumbing was not good - shower temp and water pressure was inconsistent, needing you to constantly have your adjust, and then it just shut off without warning a couple of times.
Look elsewhere for breakfast. The buffet was the same items and quality as any lower budget chain hotel, for a high-end price."
