The hotel was located on a hill overlooking Lake Taupo as opposed to on the lake. We had a lovely well presented room that featured Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries ( one of my favorite brands)
Staying in Lake Taupo was definitely a highlight of our trip.
We enjoyed the thermal hotel and spa tremendously. The staff is extremely kind and helpful, the room well-appointed (fridge, microwave, dishes, utensils, kettle) not to mention your own hot tub, although we used the hotel’s pools which are super nice. There is a lovely lakeside path right across the street. It was delightful and we were only sorry that we couldn’t stay longer!

The woman at the front desk (Sharon) was the nicest person I have ever spoken to in my life. I called the day before my check-in as I was planning to arrive later than when the front desk was open (they close at 9pm) and she was so pleasant and sweet on the phone. She gave me detailed instructions on how to get what I needed upon arrival to get into my room and where to park on the premises. Great views, clean rooms, super friendly staff. Great communication leading up to and during our stay. Would definitely recommend. The only issue we had was that the smoke detector in the room was activated by the shower steam and sent me running out of the shower in a panic.
Maggie was especially friendly and helpful. She upgraded us since we were staying two nights. The place was very spacious and amenities were good. Very comfortable.
It is a bit of a hike if you want to walk to town, but the accommodations were wonderful. Great view, and could hear waves lapping the lake at night. Very nice.
