Los Cerros
Los Cerros gives you a front-row seat to authentic Costa Rican family life without the tourist price tag. This colorful residential neighborhood on Liberia's outskirts features bright turquoise and coral homes where roosters serve as your morning alarm clock. Church of La Ermita La Agonia stands as the main local landmark worth visiting. The mountain backdrop creates a peaceful atmosphere perfect for travelers seeking genuine cultural immersion. Family-run sodas serve traditional casado plates and fresh fruit drinks. Budget guesthouses and homestays offer chances to practice your Spanish with welcoming hosts. While public transportation is limited, renting a car provides the freedom to explore Guanacaste's stunning beaches just 30-45 minutes away.

El Capulín
El Capulín offers an authentic slice of Costa Rican life away from tourist crowds. This quiet residential neighborhood provides a peaceful home base for exploring Liberia and beyond. While the area itself has few attractions, you're just a short trip from Museo de Guanacaste, Liberia Parque Central, and the colorful Sabanero Statue that celebrates local cowboy culture. Hampton By Hilton Guanacaste Airport
"Excellent"
Hotel Riu Guanacaste - All Inclusive
"Riu Guanacaste was big and beautiful and their beach area was much nicer than Riu Palace. The food was decent, the bartenders were friendly, and the rooms were cute. Two of our biggest issues were 1) the toilet/plumbing in our room (but across the property). They do this weird bubbling up thing anytime you flush and it makes the whole room smell. We literally discussed this with others we met while traveling. 2) Jose Cuervo was only located at Tamarindo bar. That needs to be at every bar. Other than that, no major complaints."

"Staff is amazing really friendly"
Hotel Del Aserradero
"Friendly staff, very patient with our limited Spanish. They all spoke some English as well. A unique hotel close to amenities. Highly recommend. Thank you for a pleasant stay."
Occidental Papagayo - Adults Only - All inclusive
"Overall, we had a really nice stay at the hotel. The property was beautiful, our room was comfortable, and for the most part, everything was great. The biggest issue we experienced was with the staff during meal times. Unfortunately, several interactions felt rude and unwelcoming, which took away from an otherwise enjoyable experience. Hospitality really makes a difference, especially when you’re staying somewhere for a vacation. We also had a significant issue with the outdoor pool area. There were a tremendous number of bees around the pool and especially near the outdoor bar, which was the only outdoor bar available. I am deathly allergic to bees, so this made it extremely difficult for me to enjoy that area and made me feel unsafe. I understand that bees are difficult to control outdoors, but given the number of them, I do think the hotel should look into ways to address the problem or at least provide an alternative for guests with severe allergies. Aside from those issues, we genuinely enjoyed the hotel and thought it was a beautiful property. With some improvements to the staff’s approach during meal times and better management of the bee situation around the pool/bar, I would consider booking again."

"Solo como sugerencia seria bueno que tengas cobijas mas gruesas en las camas"
CC Beach Front Papagayo All Inclusive
"Fantastic place to stay. We were so close to all the excursions we wanted to do. And the beach is literally right there! Pools were clean and fun! Would 100% go back!"
Hotel Bosque del Mar, Playa Hermosa
"Great staff, beautiful pool. Incredible food in the restaurant. But the elevator is broken (and apparently has been for months). Looks like they have no plans to fix it, since we noticed the staff storing cleaning supplies in it. We had to move to a first floor room (from the Nyuri Penthouse Suite) when my husband got into an accident in Costa Rica and could no longer use the stairs. Very disappointing that the management company doesn't consider this a priority."
Apartamento Ganesha Liberia
"It had everything we needed for our group of 6. Super confortable and very clean. Beautiful property."
