Learn more about Goat Island
Crossing the causeway to this tiny Narragansett Bay island feels like stepping into Newport's maritime past. The 1842 Newport Harbor Light stands sentinel while former military installations hint at the island's strategic importance. Once home to the U.S. Naval Torpedo Station, this spot witnessed historic attacks on British vessels HMS St John and HMS Liberty. Today, the rocky shoreline offers prime seabird watching and sweeping bay views. Fort Adams awaits exploration just across in Newport proper. After sunset strolls along the water, dine at the island's restaurant or attend an event at Belle Mer or Regatta Place. For mainland adventures, Bowen's Wharf and Bannister's Wharf beckon with their seaside charm.

The Pell - Part of JdV by Hyatt
"The Pell is located in Middletown away from the noise, traffic and crowds of Newport. It is part of JVD, a Hyatt property. The facility is emaculately clean. The front desk was helpful, knowledgable and very accomidating. We originally did not know the facility did not have an elevator. So I called in advance and asked for a room change. They gave us a ground floor room. They have a pool on sight that is very clean with new chairs and fresh beach towels. Ther is a small fee for overnight parking on their lot which is standard for the greater Newport RI area. They have a resturant in the facility, The Hemsley. We ate breafast there one morning. The prices are reasonable and typical for the area. The facility is located with great accessabilty to everything in the Great Newport Area. A top notch hotel."
Newport Beach Hotel & Suites
"The room was clean. Staff was very helpful and professional. Enjoyed the view of the beach from my room. Very prompt service."
Atlantic House
"Loved the bar/restaurant, conveniently located near restaurants, literally booked it for the hot tub because I was there for a race and it was broken, which we didn't find out until after check in and there were a ton of kids there so we couldn't touch the pool..."
