Top neighborhoods in Vancouver

Downtown Vancouver
Central business district meets diverse neighborhoods, featuring high-rise apartments, Granville Mall, Gastown Steam Clock, and Sun Tower. Easily accessible via SkyTrain, SeaBus, and water taxis.

Gastown
Gastown's cobblestone streets weave between Victorian architecture and the famous steam clock, creating a perfect blend of history and modern style. This walkable neighborhood buzzes with independent boutiques, art galleries, and innovative restaurants. The statue of "Gassy" Jack Deighton watches over Maple Tree Square while heritage lampposts illuminate the 19th-century brick facades. Upscale gastropubs and farm-to-table restaurants dominate the food scene, often requiring dinner reservations. Boutique hotels in converted heritage buildings offer character-filled stays. The neighborhood sits just two blocks from Waterfront Station, making exploration of Vancouver incredibly convenient.

West End
Fashionable Robson Street offers shopping and dining, while parks and beaches like Stanley Park and Sunset Beach provide outdoor activities. Explore the Stanley Park Seawall promenade and enjoy amenities along Denman and Davie Streets.

Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant buzzes with creative energy in Vancouver's coolest pocket. Browse the artsy shops on Main Street or grab a flight at one of the craft breweries tucked into converted warehouses. Food trucks serve up global eats while murals splash color across brick walls, creating a perfect backdrop for your exploration. The neighborhood strikes that sweet balance between trendy and authentic. Getting around is a breeze with frequent buses and the Broadway-City Hall SkyTrain station connecting you to downtown in minutes. Accommodation options range from heritage building boutique hotels to modern lofts. For a break from urban wandering, stroll down to False Creek's waterfront paths or kick back in a local coffee shop.

Kitsilano
Kitsilano's laid-back beach scene gives you the best of Vancouver without the downtown hustle. Volleyball courts and the heated saltwater pool at Kitsilano Beach draw sun-seekers, while nearby Vanier Park houses the Museum of Vancouver and Space Centre. West 4th Avenue buzzes with yoga studios, organic cafes, and boutique shops that honor the neighborhood's hippie roots. Travelers can choose between charming B&Bs in heritage homes or vacation rentals with mountain views. Buses connect downtown in just 15-20 minutes, and dedicated waterfront bike lanes make car-free exploring a breeze. The restaurant scene emphasizes fresh seafood and Pacific Northwest cuisine, perfect after a day of beachcombing or sailing.

Vancouver and related destinations
Between mountains and ocean, this gleaming city offers outdoor adventures alongside urban pleasures. Kayak False Creek for skyline views or bike the seawall circling Stanley Park, where towering cedars frame unexpected beaches. Granville Island's public market tempts with artisanal cheeses and fresh seafood beneath the rumble of the bridge. Gastown's steam clock whistles on schedule while locals debate which sushi restaurant truly deserves their loyalty. Science World's geodesic dome houses interactive exhibits worth the visit. The Museum of Anthropology displays magnificent First Nations art in a building almost as impressive as its collection. Don't miss Capilano Suspension Bridge Park in North Vancouver, where swaying walkways test your courage high above the forest floor.

Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
"Good"
Pan Pacific Vancouver
"We had a waterfront view… stunning. Room was on par with most hotels, nothing spectacular. The one downside was the lack of staff in Coal Harbour bar. Two staff members running around, excellent service when they got to us, but definitely need another server or two. Loved the service from room to cruise ship."
Fairmont Waterfront
"The hotel was lovely. Our room is spacious and clean. I loved how we got litres of water in the evening."
Moda Hotel
"Great place and location !!"
The Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver
"Clean, great location, friendly staff, great restaurant"
Coast Coal Harbour Vancouver Hotel by APA
"The property was conveniently located for a reasonable walk to the convention at the Vancouver convention center. The hotel staff was very friendly helpful. There is a small restaurant on the property that offers a limited amount of variety. The rooms have excellent touchscreen controls for the lighting. The toilets in the room are state of the art with multiple controls for heating and washing. The closet space is very small, but there is a safer valuables. The room was equipped with a nice refrigerator, coffeemaker, but no microwave. I think the hotel should add water bottles to the room with the first two or three bottles free and others perhaps for purchase. The rooms were small, but efficient."
Rosedale On Robson Suite Hotel
"Overall a good place to stay. Excellent downtown location, within walking distance to Yaletown restaurants and entertainment. Hotel is a little dated; however clean and everything worked fine. It is a good value considering the price points of comparable properties."
Atrium Hotel Vancouver
"Buffet/Bar washrooms had no toilet tissue during breakfast time. And the washrooms were quite dirty. Some of the basics were not kept up on."
The Parker Hotel and Rooftop
"The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Valet parking was extremely great and helpful!! The rooftop bar on the 9th floor was delicious and we enjoyed our stay! Only downside, it can be very very loud first thing in the morning with trucks (I think they were the garbage trucks). Seemed like the windows were always open as you can hear almost everything from outside. Our bathroom door lock was broken (wasn’t really a huge issue in my case but was more of an issue for my husband). We, however, absolutely loved the AC, especially with how hot and humid Vancouver was. All in all, would recommend and stay here again."
