Learn more about West Orange
Discover the legacy of America's greatest inventor at Thomas Edison National Historical Park, where the workshop still buzzes with creative energy. South Mountain Reservation offers peaceful hiking trails and hidden waterfalls, with surprising Manhattan skyline views. Eagle Rock Reservation provides another perfect perch for skyline gazing, especially magical at sunset. Families flock to Turtle Back Zoo, where animal habitats feel surprisingly natural despite suburban surroundings. After exploring Edison's laboratory, refuel at local restaurants that give this commuter town its distinct character. The historic Pleasantdale Chateau stands as an elegant reminder of West Orange's storied past, when Edison's presence made this the epicenter of American innovation.

Hotel St. James
"The location of the hotel is excellent only about 5 minutes from Times Square. The room was basic but clean. Spacious enough for 3 of us. There weren’t enough plug sockets that would hold a travel adapter plug so that was a problem. The AC unit was so loud I had to turn it off at night as I couldn’t sleep. We had a nice stay."

Doubletree by Hilton New York Times Square South
"I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last 6 months and it has been great on both occasions. Fantastic staff, great location with Madison Square Garden across the block and walkable to all of Midtown. It’s also a 10 minute walk to Hudson Yards and the Javits Centre and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. If you can get an Empire view room, you won’t be disappointed. Also, free cookies on arrival. What’s not to love?"

Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel
"Great location, old hotel, crowded. Elevators are always an issue. Loved the location. Rooms could be better."
