In New York to see a play at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre, right across the street couldn’t have picked a better hotel location. The hotel decor is beautiful a quiet room was very nice and not too small. I traveled with a friend, we were both impressed and satisfied.

Pros- great location (walking distance to Central Park, restaurants, bars, Time Square, museums, subway, etc), nice staff, nice decor, great roof top restaurant and bar Cons-old and worn furniture, very small pool, shower got the bathroom floor all wet so the bathroom door was warped and difficult to close.

This hotel is just average. Pretty much a rent a room. They rooms are good sizes for NY. Bathrooms tiny and not well maintained. No coffee machine in rooms but there is a Starbucks on the corner downstairs. Bar upstairs is ok - the Mexican place within the hotel was ok.

8/10 Very good

The room was spacious and beautiful; however, the shower was fairly challenging. To use given the type of shower head provided. Additionally, the amenities (tissues, towels, etc.) were out of reach for certain individuals in my party. It was disappointing to see that with such a beautiful lobby the bar was closed and the only one available was the rooftop, which was beautiful nonetheless.

8/10 Very good

The rooms were rather dark, though they had lamps. It was really hard to get ready in the mornings because there was no natural light coming into the room so we had to sit under the lamps in order to do our make up or stand right in front of the window in order to see ourselves. No way to ventilate the room, so the room stayed pretty musty because the shower is not far away. It just felt like we couldn't breathe in there even though the AC was running nonstop. But beautiful hotel great staff. Clean and safe area.

This was the first time I stayed at the Empire and I must say it was really good. The staff was very responsive and keen. Our room was quiet and well appointed. I must say, the shower had the best pressure washer I ever experienced! The location of the hotel is excellent and everything we needed was just a short walk away. The pricing was reasonable. If I ever need to stay in Manhattan again I will definitely book here.

The Empire Hotel is proof that you don’t need a giant room to have a giant New York experience. Clean, comfortable, and incredibly functional, with one of the best locations in the city. You’re steps from Lincoln Center, Rosa Mexicano, PJ Clarke’s, and just about everything else worth eating, drinking, or seeing. The staff—from the front desk to housekeeping—couldn’t have been friendlier. Finding a clean hotel on the Upper West Side for under $300 a night feels like discovering a hidden subway line. I even woke up at 11:30 p.m., walked a block for a street-vendor gyro, and was back in bed in minutes. Restaurants, bars, Midtown, Hell’s Kitchen…it’s all within walking distance. If you’re looking for clean, convenient, and great value, I’d absolutely stay here again

It was an overall great hotel experience. Clean and pretty quiet. Just be aware it is located right across from the Lincoln Center so there may be a lot of foot traffic in and out but overall it is a great place to stay.
