I've grown up visiting the "Dirty Myrtle" my whole life. I refuse to stay anywhere south of N. Myrtle to avoid crime and general chaos. I love going during "winter" since most hotels have heated pools and less guests and SC is usually still warm'ish

North Myrtle Beach is a nice vacation spot if you don't want the "hustle and bustle" of Myrtle Beach. It had great dining options and great shopping. It was quiet and safe and the local people were great to be around.

Felt like Iwas in a good neighborhood. Had heard some stories of Myrtle Beach being kind of shady. This part was nice where we stayed. Nice for kids too.
