Highly recommend Pensione Sorriso for a stay in Vernazza. Evelyn was a wonderful host and went beyond expectations in helping us enjoy our stay. The hotel has a bright breakfast area/lobby and a nice patio/garden to enjoy. We stayed in a room with a private bath and balcony. Although no sea view from the rooms, there is one from the patio and the sea is only a two or three minute walk from the hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel 5 Terre. The location is great, as it is only a couple of blocks from the beach and restaurants. It was an easy 5 minute walk from the train station and finding it after getting there was simple. The room was comfortable and when there was an issue with our air conditioner, we said something to the front desk as we were walking out and they fixed it before we got back later in the day. (We traveled 9 days in Italy during what locals called the "off season" from March 6th to March 17th, 2015). We traveled from the U.S. 88 Miglia was spectacular. The best view in all of La Spezia. The hike to the hotel took us through a nice neighborhood with cool views. The owners were so nice and welcomed us well. We took the local train to Manarola and Riomaggiore in the Cinque Terre area (very close to La Spezia). We would visit 88 Miglia again!

The hotel is a little far from the center but its location is beautiful! The staff are all friendly and helpful. They have a restaurant where we had dinner one night and the food was delicious! The only negative is the last bus leaving from the city to the hotel is at 8PM so we had to end our days a little early. Taxis are not available from Riomaggiore so you have to get one at the main village (La Spezia) if you are staying out past 8.
