We were staying at the George Washington because years ago this pub (then the Black Bull) had been owned by my great grandfather so we would have liked it for that reason if for no other. However, we were delighted by the charming building, the comfortable and large rooms, the class of the pub and the food and the attention of the owners. After a busy week exploring Scotland, my boyfriend and I decided to make a stop for a couple of day in the quiet town of Windermere to get some rest and relaxation before continuing onto our busy adventures down in London. Jericho was just what we needed. The entire place was beautifully decorated and very very well kept. Our room was so cozy (but spacious) and luxurious--I probably could have just moved in. We were very satisfied with our stay at Bowness Guest House. After a long, rainy day of exploring, this was the perfect cozy spot to warm up and recharge. Our room was well furnished and overlooked the beautiful courtyard. The location was great, as we were able to park in the neighborhood and walk down to the waterside within 10 minutes. The host is also kind and helpful. Definitely recommend!
