We were just in town for the night, but we adored this quaint inn and town. The room was modern, comfortable, and had everything you would need. The traditional breakfast (plus so many other options) was delicious with a great variety. We also ate dinner in the Red Dragon Pub the night before and were impressed by the service, food, and atmosphere. Come for the town and the Red Dragon Inn!
The bedroom and bathroom were lovely, the breakfasts amazing, the staff always happy to help and the location just off the A590 was perfect for exploring the whole Lake District. My only rejoinder was that the stairs to the rooms are a little challenging for someone like me who is mobility impaired. The staff were attentive to our needs. We ate there on the second night of our stay. They food was lovely and hot when served. We did not wait for too long from ordering to getting our food. There were limitations on what we could have both on the food and drink side due to delivery issues. My and I were are aware that there was music being played when we went to bed, but I did not really interfere with us getting to sleep. Eat plugs were provided which my wife used. This was a lovely place to stay and incredible value for money. This is not a 5* hotel but it has a lovely charm and a is ran by a hardworking, lovely couple. A room with breakfast included for the price you are paying is amazing. Me and my wife enjoyed our breakfast and even catered for me (vegetarian). Highly recommend! Will stay here again.
We were staying at the George Washington because years ago this pub (then the Black Bull) had been owned by my great grandfather so we would have liked it for that reason if for no other. However, we were delighted by the charming building, the comfortable and large rooms, the class of the pub and the food and the attention of the owners. Our hosts were very friendly. They gave us an excellent option for supper, and provided a wonderful breakfast!! Our apartment was perfect!! Comfortable bed... kitchen area... dining area... and a bathroom with an excellent shower!!!
