"As always the staff make the place."
Leonardo Hotel Exeter
8/10 Good
"Room a little tired and we were ground floor on the side of the road in town but we didn’t especially hear any noise, just didn’t feel we wanted to open the curtains. Breakfast and staff lovely"
Tiverton Hotel Lounge & Venue

"Little bit old fashioned but all clean and well maintained the staff were brilliant, fast and attentive, I was only there for one evening but excellent place for a short stay."
Exeter Rougemont hotel by Sunday

"Room was a good size and clean, though not air conditioned so it was very warm after the recent hot spell. The hotel car park was small and full, so we parked in the Central Station car park just across the road from the hotel. Staff were helpful on arrival, but the lift was not working. We had been advised of that problem before we arrived. Hotel is in a good position in the city centre and a level walk to the main shopping and sightseeing areas near the cathedral. We did not have breakfast at the hotel but there are lots of places nearby where you can eat."

"We had another really enjoyable stay and would definitely stay here again. The hotel is exceptionally clean, modern and feels very new. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and our room was excellent, with a really comfortable bed that made for a great night’s sleep. The coffee station on each floor is a great idea, although I found it quite confusing to use. Having to go out into the corridor at all hours to get a drink also put me off using it, especially as the machine wasn’t particularly straightforward. The restaurant staff were friendly, but things did feel a little calamitous at times, which was also our experience last year. Hopefully this is something that can improve. One thing I was particularly pleased to discover was that the hotel accepts the Blue Light Card. Unfortunately, I didn’t find this out until my last drink of the evening, so it would be great if this could be made more obvious to guests on arrival. Overall, we had a great stay. The hotel is clean, comfortable and modern, and despite the few small issues, we will definitely be returning."
The Royal Lion Hotel
8/10 Good
"An historic building in the centre of Lyme Regis, 5 minutes from the beach, with parking. Our room had a fine view of the bay, was comfortable and clean, with a modern shower/toilet. The furniture was a mish-mash of old pieces, but it all worked. The building is old and rambling, with staircases (no lifts). Breakfast was good, the staff were willing but a bit inexperienced. Dinner in the restaurant was pretty good. Our vegetarian needs were well met. All-in-all, we had a pleasant short break in this town, the 'Pearl of Dorset'."
