400 miles of January winter across Wisconsin and Minnesota, and finally into Iowa. The Brookstone was a warm comfortable friendly oasis from the storm.

When we checked in, we were told our room was on the second floor and there were no elevators, only stairs. I recently had injured my knee and it was difficult for me to walk up/down stairs. The front desk clerk informed me the hotel was very full and he didn't know if he would be able to move anything around. Since I had not told them we needed a first floor room, I said it was OK. My granddaughter and I stayed at Boarders for a week. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, we had nothing but positive experiences. It has a country atmosphere, it's cozy, and everyone was friendly and helpful. We highly recommend Boarders as a place to stay while visiting Iowa. A big shout out to Daryll who was at the front desk when we checked in and for several of the evenings when we came back to our room in the evening. Daryll was always helpful and pleasant.
